The Medic to his feathered friend

Archimedes is a cosmetic item for the Medic. It is the Medic's pet white dove, as seen in Meet the Medic, who sits on the Medic's right shoulder and wobbles around with his movements. Fitting with its appearance in Meet the Medic, the RED version of Archimedes is splattered with blood from the Heavy's heart, while the BLU version lacks this feature.

The eyes and beak of Archimedes are connected with the Medic's facial animations, allowing him to parrot the Medic's expressions.

When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.

This item was awarded in Genuine quality to those who purchased the plush version from the Valve Store before it was discontinued.

Trivia

  • The item description states that Archimedes was stolen from the prime minister's wedding. It's unknown which prime minister, as Germany has a Chancellor. The last sentence references an early scene in the Meet the Medic video, in which the Medic is doing open chest surgery on the Heavy, and Archimedes pops up from under the Heavy's internal organs.
  • Archimedes is named after the ancient Greek scientist and polymath Archimedes of Syracuse, a man famous for his contributions to various fields of scholarship.
  • When the Scout dies via explosion, or with the Bombinomicon equipped, there is a 1 in 20 (5%) chance that Archimedes will fly out of the gibs, in reference to the final scene of Meet the Medic, in which Archimedes was mistakenly left inside the Scout after his surgery.
