That thing on your wrist - it's a convenience. It tells you where to go, what to do, dulls your brain. It may have helped you find the Sierra Madre broadcast, but it's just as much a crutch today as it was in the Old World.
Father Elijah

The Pip-Boy is a promotional miscellaneous item for the Engineer. It is a wrist-mounted computer device with a green-glowing monochrome screen, and several buttons and knobs. The device is modeled after the Pip-Boy 3000 series produced by the fictional RobCo Industries in the video game series Template:W.

When equipped, the Pip-Boy features a revised PDA HUD to match the looks of the device.

A Genuine Pip-Boy was awarded to all players who owned Fallout: New Vegas before August 8th, 2011.

  • This item can be purchased, traded, crafted, gifted and found in random drops.

Bugs

  • The Pip-Boy themed HUD for the Build and Destroy Menus will fail to display while playing with a gamepad.
  • When activating the Pip-Boy, the Engineer's hand animation will miss the activation button.
  • The level of the Pip-Boy doesn't show in the backpack.

Trivia

  • The specific model of Pip-Boy is that of the 3000, as it is presented in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The Pip-Boy was produced as a co-venture between RobCo. Industries and Vault-Tec, before the Great War. RobCo. produces a variety of automated devices, including robots and automated weaponry, not unlike the Engineer's own contraptions.
