The Thousand-Yard Stare is a community-created cosmetic item for the Soldier. It adds a pair of googly eyes to the Soldier's helmet.
This item has two styles, named "Awed" and "Shocked". The "Awed" style only adds the eyes, while the "Shocked" style also adds a pair of thick eyebrows. When painted, the "Awed" style paints the helmet, while the "Shocked" style paints the eyebrows.
The Thousand-Yard Stare was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Update history
June 22, 2021 Patch #1 (Summer 2021 Pack)
- The Thousand-Yard Stare was added to the game.
- Updated schema
drop_type
for the Thousand-Yard Stare.
Trivia
- The term Thousand-yard stare refers to a blank and unfocused gaze given by armed combatants who are either desensitized or traumatized by the horrors and stress of war.
- There is a hidden note inside the textures for the Shocked style, featuring a crudely drawn Soldier yelling, with the caption "Yelling Idiot!". While not visible in-game, it has been used in one of the promotional materials featured on the item's Workshop page.
