- Template:W is the capital of the state of Jalisco in Mexico, which translates to "Stony River" in Arabic. The name is quite a clever reference to the Pyro, as in the 1990s a series of gasoline explosions rocked the city, killing 200 people and leaving 15,000 homeless.[1]
- There have been many theories as to the Pyro's nationality. Mexican is one, this hat is likely a reference to these theories
- Additionally, one famous Newgrounds flash animation of Meet the Pyro depicts him as being Hispanic, most probably Mexican.[2]
- The city of Template:W is widely associated with Template:W music the hat may be a reference to the sombreros worn by the Mariachi musicians in the area.
- Mariachi Music is almost universal in Mexican culture with special occasions which would explain the item's description.
- The Pyro's classic air guitar taunt may also support the fact that the Pyro may enjoy or play Mariachi music.
