The Tartan Shade is a community-created promotional cosmetic item for the Demoman. It is a team-colored cloak with a tartan-patterned hood that covers the Demoman's head.
This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-ordered Total War: ROME II on Steam before September 3, 2013.
The Tartan Shade was later contributed to the Steam Workshop, at Valve's request.

Unused content
The Tartan Shade is set up for paint to be applied, but the ability to do so is disabled.
Due to how the textures are set up, painting the Tartan Shade with single color Paint Cans would result in different colorization between teams.
