The Frying Pan is a promotional melee weapon for the Soldier and Demoman. It is a worn cast-iron skillet with a film of grease on the cooking surface and two spout-like openings on the sides.
This weapon functions exactly the same way as the Shovel and Bottle. Upon contact with a surface or player, it will play sound files from Left 4 Dead 2.
This item, together with Ellis' Cap, is awarded to players who purchase Left 4 Dead 2 before October 7th, 2010.
The kill icon for the Frying Pan was contributed by H.Gaspar.

Update history
September 30, 2010 Patch (The Mann-Conomy Update)
- The Frying Pan was added to the game.
- Made the Frying Pan tradeable.
- Fixed the Frying Pan not being tradeable.
- [Undocumented] Removed the ability to craft the Frying Pan using the "Fabricate Class Weapons" blueprint.
- This weapon was given a unique kill icon.
- Fixed melee attacks not destroying remote detonation pipes (Stickybombs).
- Added new community contributed response rules to this weapon.
Bugs
- Even if Left 4 Dead 2 is purchased after October 7, 2010, Ellis' Cap and the Frying Pan can still be obtained as Promotional items.
- Taunting with the Frying Pan whilst playing as the Demoman will result in the Demoman attempting to drink out of the weapon. The weapon will also clip through his leg during the animation.
- When taunting with the Frying Pan as the Soldier, the underside of the pan will just barely meet the Soldier's helmet.
- In client view, the weapon is positioned at an angle, clipping slightly into the hand of the Demoman.
Trivia
- On The Sacrifice update page, the Soldier can be seen cooking maggots in the Frying Pan, while the Scout wearing Ellis' Cap looks on, in a section of Viaduct.[1]
