The Hero's Tail is a promotional cosmetic item for the Scout. It replaces the Scout's default hat with a white and gray ponytail hairstyle with hanging sideburns. The ponytail swings while the Scout is in motion.
This cosmetic item has two styles, named "Pigmentation Lost" and "Pigmentation Gained". Both of the style shares the same appearance, however when painted, "Pigmentation Lost" colors the roots of the hair, while "Pigmentation Gained" colors the entirety of the hair.
The Hero's Tail was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-ordered The Witcher 2 on Steam before May 17, 2011.

Update history
- [Undocumented] The Hero's Tail was added to the game.
- Fixed the Hero's Tail crashing a server when equipped.
- Added an additional style that more strongly responds to paint.
Trivia
- The item's description is a reference to The Witcher, in which Geralt of Rivia's skin and hair lose pigmentation as a result of the consumption of mutagens, a prerequisite of his transformation into a full Witcher.
