Halloween Costumes are item sets comprised of Halloween cosmetic items. Each set transforms each class into terrifying monsters of Halloween lore.
The items first appeared in the Very Scary Halloween Special event. They could be collected in the Eyeaduct map during the annual Haunted Halloween Special where a Haunted Halloween Gift would appear every five minutes on a server with 10 or more non-bot players. They were also available through the Mann Co. Store before November 8, 2011. Any gifts collected in the Underworld of Eyeaduct were awarded in the Haunted quality. Additionally, if the complete item set is worn, a special set effect could be applied.
A second set of Halloween costumes were released in the Scream Fortress 2013 update. Each piece could be randomly found by collecting Haunted Halloween Gifts on Helltower.
Another set of Halloween costumes were released with the Scream Fortress 2014. Players who opened the game during the update were given a Halloween Gift Cauldron. Upon opening it, players had a chance of obtaining a Strange Haunted Halloween costume piece. A second Halloween Gift Cauldron was awarded to players who completed the Carnival of Carnage: Bumper To Bumper To Bumper achievement.
The sets are holiday restricted to Halloween and Full Moon events. The Haunted Halloween Gifts were replaced with the Soul Gargoyle in 2015; as such, these items are only obtainable by trading or opening a Halloween Package.
