If you were huntin' trouble, lad... ya found it.
The Demoman on the consequences of treasure hunts

The Treasure Hat is a promotional cosmetic item for all classes. It is a worn-out tricorne hat topped with an open gold-filled treasure chest that spills out coins as the player moves.

This hat was awarded to players who completed 15 out of 28 objectives in The Great Steam Treasure Hunt. Users who completed the requisite number of Treasure Hunt objectives were required to visit the promotion page and click the "Unlock Hat" button in order to have the hat added to their backpack. If the player already owned the Bounty Hat, it could then be upgraded to the Treasure Hat. In addition, when the user obtained all 28 Treasure Hunt achievements, the Treasure Hat could be further upgraded to the Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect.
