The Frying Pan is a melee weapon used by the Soldier and Demoman classes. It is simply a black Frying Pan made of cast iron.

Similar to that of the Lugermorph to the pistol, the Frying pan replaces the Shovel or Bottle. Gameplay-wise, this weapon has no discernible differences from the Shovel or Bottle. The weapon was earned by purchasing Left 4 Dead 2 before October 7, 2010. Players also received Ellis' Cap as a part of this promotion.

Trivia

L4D2 Frying pan

• This is the first promotional crossover weapon from a different Valve game to make it into Team Fortress 2.
• This is the second weapon that can be equipped only by The Soldier and The Demoman, the first weapon being The Pain Train.
• The Frying Pan is a melee weapon in another Valve game, Left 4 Dead 2.
• A similar Frying Pan was designed for the unofficial Fancy vs. Nasty update and was a skin for the Equalizer.
• The Demoman's taunt with the Frying Pan is the same as that of the Bottle, so he drinks the Frying Pan as he does the Pain Train.
• As a Soldier, selecting the Frying Pan, like the Pain Train, still creates the sound heard when the Shovel flips open.
• The Frying Pan has yet to be given a unique kill icon.
• The Frying Pan is not tradable.

  Soldier frying maggots
• This is one of eight items available through the purchase of another game, the others being the Big Kill, the Lugermorph, Bill's Hat, the Alien Swarm Parasite, the Lumbricus Lid, Max's Severed Head, and Ellis' Cap.
• Players who already owned a copy of Left 4 Dead 2 before the promotion did not receive this item until several days after the announcement.
• On the Sacrifice update page, the Soldier can be seen cooking maggots in the Frying Pan while the Scout (wearing Ellis' Hat) watches. They're sitting in part of the map Viaduct. This is a reference to one of his most quoted lines of dialogue, "Maggots!".
• It was possible to craft this weapon using the "Fabricate Class Weapons" blueprint before the ability to do so was disabled, making the Frying Pan the first promotional item that could be obtained without qualifying to receive it.
• The sound used when the Frying Pan hits something is recycled from Left 4 Dead 2.
• Despite the fact this can only be used by Soldier and Demoman, the blog post 'Free Hats!' states "(the hat and frying pan) know no class, color, weight or gender. They work for all peoples".
