A Heavy Update was a patch for the Heavy, the third class to have a major content pack released. Meet the Sandvich was released alongside the Update. Unlike the Pyro Update or the Gold Rush Update, the Heavy Update page was segmented, with the content of the update being spread across several different pages, instead of listed on a single page. The update was released on August 19, 2008.
With the arrival of the Heavy Update, Team Fortress 2 received its first consumable item; the Sandvich. It also introduced a new weapon effect, Slowdown, as well as an entirely new gamemode, Arena.
