The Heavy

A Heavy Update was the third major content update for Team Fortress 2.

The Heavy class was the face of the update, recieving three new weapons, providing players with greater gameplay opportunities. To accompany the Sandvich consumable weapon, Meet the Sandvich was released alongside the update. The update also pioneered the Slowdown mechanic.

A new gamemode Arena was introduced, focusing on combat between the two teams and bringing five new maps to the game. The maps Badwater Basin and Steel was also included.

The update was released on August 19, 2008.
