The Cow Mangler 5000 is a primary weapon for the Soldier.
The Mangler deals less damage to buildings than the Rocket Launcher, and cannot fire critical hits. Rather than using traditional ammo, each shot fired from the Mangler partially depletes the player's "Mangler" bar, which is recharged by reloading. Each shot consumes 1/5 of the bar, allowing the player to make 5 shots before having to reload. Holding alt-fire when the "Mangler" bar is full will consume the entire bar and fire a single "charged" shot after about 3 seconds, which deals additional base damage to players, automatically mini-crits, and disables any buildings it hits for 4 seconds. Upon being killed by the Mangler, players will turn black and vaporize, slowly hovering in mid-air while team-colored fire particles surrounding them disintegrate their body.
The weapon is part of Dr. Grordbort's Victory Pack.

Charge shot mechanic
The player can press alt-fire to charge the weapon, which requires full energy (When the "Mangler" bar is full). Firing a charge shot fully depletes the energy, forcing the soldier to reload before firing again.
It is possible to rocket jump with both a normal shot and a charged shot, although the charged shot doesn't generate as much force and is more difficult to pull off.
The weapon takes approximately 3 seconds to charge and the Soldier moves at a third of his speed (roughly 27% of normal speed, as opposed to his normal 80%) while he is charging the weapon. A charged shot deals mini-crits and aproximately 35% extra damage to players and can disable any Engineer buildings for 4 seconds.
A charged shot ignites nearby enemies for 6 seconds when it explodes, as well as the player who shot it if it explodes close by. It can also ignite ally Snipers' Huntsman arrows.

Update history
- The Cow Mangler 5000 was added to the game.
Bugs
- The weapon does not deal critical hits even while crit boosted.
- Attempting to rocketjump with a charged shot will grant the "Pilot Light" Pyro achievement to the user.
- Taunting while charging a rocket will still fire the projectile during the taunt animation, complete with particle effects on the Soldier's chest as it charges.
- Kills caused by afterburn from a charged shot are counted as a Flamethrower kill.
- Deactivating Sentries during humiliation will make them reactivate and shoot the winning team.
- If a Soldier begins charging a shot and the round ends with him put into a humiliation pose, a charged rocket will still be fired.
- Upon destroying an Engineer's building, the kill icon will be displayed as the normal kill icon for the Cow Mangler 5000 - with the upper half of a stick figure's body.

Trivia
- According to the Grordbort's Crash comic, the weapon along with the Righteous Bison was found by the RED Soldier in a rocket that crash landed, represented on several maps as Grockets in the background.
- The weapon is described as a "Two handed shoulder mounted wave cannon" according to Dr. Grordbort's missing shipment manifest.
