Darwin's Danger Shield is a community-made secondary weapon for the Sniper. It is a crocodile hide, complete with waving tail, stretched over a broken wooden frame. A bird skull is tied to the brown leather body strap.
Like the Razorback, Darwin's Danger Shield is worn on the Sniper's back. Instead of protecting the wearer from backstabs, it grants a passive bonus of an additional 25 maximum health, encouraging users to venture further into combat but depriving them of a secondary weapon.
Equipping Darwin's Danger Shield also grants the wearer 15% resistance from bullet damage, enough resistance for the wearer at full health to survive a fully charged bodyshot or uncharged Headshot from any Sniper Rifle. As a trade-off, the wearer receives 20% extra damage from explosive sources such as rockets, grenades, and stickybombs.

September 30, 2010 Patch (Mann-Conomy Update)
- Darwin's Danger Shield was added to the game.
- [Undocumented] This weapon was added to the crafting blueprint for the Ol' Snaggletooth.
- Fixed players getting set bonuses applied on tournament servers when the server is restricting the player's weapons using the item_whitelist.
- Added: Bullet damage taken reduced by 15%.
- Added: Explosive damage taken increased by 20%.
Trivia
- The name of the weapon may be a reference to a multitude of things. Darwin may refer to the capital of the Northern Territory in Australia, the Sniper's home country. Crocodiles are also often found around Darwin. Darwin may also refer to Template:W, who is known for proposing the scientific theory of Template:W and the theory of Evolution.
- The first version of the shield had jiggleboned legs plus had the crocodile skin stretched over the full shield instead of being tanned on a stretching board, but these were removed in the creation process.[1]
