— Gunboats publicity blurb

The Gunboats are secondary weapons for the Soldier. They appear as a pair of metal plates attached to the heel and toe of the class's boots.

The Gunboats will function as long as they are equipped, and as such do not need to be drawn like other weapons. The main function of the footwear is to reduce the amount of self-damage that is received from Rocket Jumping. The damage reduction does not apply to rockets that injure other enemies, unless the damage is dealt by the splash radius of a rocket jump. They also do not prevent fall damage suffered by the player.

This weapon was revealed as the prize for the Soldier's victory in the War update.
