After firing the Crusader's Crossbow if you switch weapons before the reload animation, then switch back the Crusader's Crossbow will have to play the reload animation before it can fire the next shot, this is compared to the [[Pyro]] [[Flare Gun]] that can bypass the reload animation.

The Medic on long-range injections

The Crusader's Crossbow is a community-made primary weapon for the Medic. It is a wooden crossbow with a metal barrel attached to a canister. The Medic's cross emblem is present both on the canister and the crossbow frame.

Similarly to the Huntsman, this weapon fires an arrow that travels in a slight arc with a team-colored streak trailing behind it. The crossbow characteristics of the weapon do not require the player to charge up a shot but significantly increase the reload time. Crossbow arrows will hurt enemies and heal teammates, allowing a sharpshooting player to give support fire from afar. Any player hit will appear to have an arrow sticking out of their body, a mere cosmetic effect.

Arrows function on a reversed damage falloff scale; the further the arrow travels, the greater amount it will hurt or heal. The amount of health replenished is not affected by whether the teammate has been recently damaged. Healing teammates in this way does not contribute to the Medic's ÜberCharge meter.

A Pyro can reflect a crossbow arrow back at the Medic or into teammates to give them a health boost. Disguised enemy Spies will be damaged by the arrows and not be healed.

Bugs

  • The weapon cannot heal at point-blank range. The Medic must step back in order to heal, otherwise the bolts will simply pass through teammates.
  • From a third-person view, the crossbow bolt appears to fire from the Medic's face. A possible reason could be that the weapon reuses the arrow animations of the Huntsman, which the Sniper holds up in front of his face.
  • From the first-person view of the Medic, the bolt appears to fire from behind the gun. A possible reason as stated above is that with the Huntsman, the Sniper pulls the arrow back before firing it, so when the arrow animation is used on the Crusader's Crossbow, the arrow's trail begins behind the gun.
  • When a round restarts, the weapon's ammo may not be reset.
  • When fired at a point-blank range, the arrow will hit slightly below the cross-hair.
  • The weapon uses the same arrow as the Huntsman.
  • When reloading, the Medic seems to load a small bolt into the crossbow, but fires an arrow instead.
  • In first person view, the Medic´s finger of the left hand clips into the Crossbow where he is holding it.
  • If the primary fire button is held after one shot, the weapon animations will stop until the reloading process begins.
