The Soul Gargoyle is an item which grants access to Merasmissions, and allows players to use the Halloween Transmute feature. The Soul Gargoyle was initially available during the Scream Fortress 2015 event, and returned during Scream Fortress 2016. All players logging in to Team Fortress 2 during these events receive a Soul Gargoyle.

Ranks

Similar to Strange Weapons, the Soul Gargoyle has a variety of rankings. The rankings increase as players collect "souls" by killing (or assisting in killing) other players during the event, or by completing various map objectives. Players can also gain souls by collecting a "Soul Gargoyle" that randomly appears in maps during the event.

Trivia

  • The level up milestone '666' is a reference to the "Number of the Beast" in the New Testament Bible.
  • The level up milestone '1337' is a reference to "Eleet" or "Leet-Speak", which replaces certain letters of the alphabet with numbers.
  • Each level of the Soul Gargoyle is holding a different item:
    • The Sad Soul Gargoyle is holding a skull.
    • The Silly Soul Gargoyle is holding a twelve-sided die. The sides consist of a Swan emblem, the nine class emblems, a Saxton Hale emblem, and a cigarette emblem (signifying the Administrator).
    • The Sneering Soul Gargoyle is holding the talking pumpkin from the Gargoyles & Gravel comic.
    • The Happy Soul Gargoyle is holding a pile of "Gargoyles and Gravel" books, with the topmost one being the Gravel Master's Handbook.
