Hi, twolfe.
I do use Show preview while editing and before clicking Save page (much more after your first message, and I'd like to both thank you for it and apologize for my earlier behavior); however, I sometimes let an error or two slip by (I'm not perfect, after all :B), and so I'd rather fix it right then, while I'm in an editing mood, than leave it for someone else to fix or for myself to fix later - specially because I am quite forgetful, and would probably forget to go back to fix it later, even if I put a reminder on my screen.
I'm also a bit of a perfectionist, so when I see an error, I want to fix it (specially if it's an error made by me).
- BrazilianNut (talk) 02:22, 25 April 2017 (PDT)
It's no problem to edit a page 2 or 3 times, if you found a mistake again after creating/editing it. What twolfe is talking about is spamming this. If you plan to update the whole page, please think about editing the whole page instead. Thanks. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 08:32, 25 April 2017 (PDT)
...Oh...
I'm very sorry about that. I don't know about wiki coding and stuff, all I know I learned from editing pages in this wiki.
In that particular case, I tried updating the Brazilian Portuguese page, which had several boxes still in English, and I couldn't edit them through the Edit button at the top. I did not know those were all part of the same page, specially since when I clicked "Edit" for the info boxes, it only showed stuff regarding that info box in particular and nothing else.
Once again, I'm very sorry for that. =(
- BrazilianNut (talk) 14:45, 27 April 2017 (PDT)
That's no problem, we're just denoting it for the future. =) Also regarding the "info box in particular and nothing else", that is the sense of those edit buttons on sub pages, if you only want to change a small thing in a subparagraph, you don't need to scroll through the page. But if you're editing on multiple subsections, opening the code of the entire page is preferable. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 02:50, 30 April 2017 (PDT)

Crosslinker's Coil/pt-br

— Tark lm(pt-br) 03:14, 1 December 2017 (PST)

How to Use the Contributed By Infobox Field

Hey there, I wanted to talk a little about how to properly credit contributors in the "contributed by" section of item infoboxes. You start by using one of two templates, depending on whether or not a contributors' inventory is private, or whether or not they've accepted their Self-Made item yet. In most cases, contributors' inventories will be public, in which case, you should (at least eventually) use the Backpack Item Link template.

There are a couple sets of numbers after the template's name, which are, in order:

  • The contributor's Steam ID 64, which you can find by pasting their profile link into Steam ID I/O or similar sites.
  • The item ID of the contributor's Self-Made item. You can find this by going to the contributor's Steam inventory through your browser, finding the item in question, right-clicking on it and selecting Copy Link Address (or similar commands) and taking the last set of numbers from the end of the link.

When put together successfully, the page will link to the contributors' Self-Made item directly, and display their name. If their name doesn't show up, but the link works as you intended, it means they're not in our database, and should be added to the end of the Steam ID list.

In the event that a contributor's inventory is private, or they have not accepted their Self-Made item yet, you should instead use the Steamid template, following roughly the same procedure, but substituting the item ID field at the end with the contributor's profile name, so it can be displayed properly on the wiki, and adding their Steam ID 64 to the dictionary list if it isn't already present, just in case.

If a contributor simply hasn't accepted their Self-Made item yet, don't forget to change to the Backpack Item Link template when applicable! -MarioMaster2008 (talk) 21:34, 2 January 2018 (PST)

O formato correto é L minusculo e 1: l1. — Tark lm(pt-br) 01:38, 21 January 2018 (PST)

Halloween lead linking

The pattern "community-created Payload Halloween map added in the Scream Fortress 2018 update" seem rather overlinked, especially with three links back-to-back. I would suggest removing one link (or more). Which one? the Steam Workshop is linked elsewhere in the lead. I suggest Halloween-themed community Payload map".

Also, all of the Developer lists (except Gravestone) have neglected the Steam profile links. Someone should fix that. M I K A D O 282 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 🎃🎃 🎃🎃 (talk) (To Do) 11:56, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Sorry about linking back-to-back like that, I'll see what I can do about it, but I can't promise much about the Steam profile links, as I have never gotten how to obtain people's IDs and stuff, and would have to add links with the "Username" format. Stone

Oi!

---

Logo, "A Highway Star").

Dictionary editing

Hiya, just a quick note for editing the dictionary; as you might have noticed the usage of <!-- HTML comments --> is not recommended inside so I fixed it for now. Apparently your intention was to signal editors that a typo or mistake is really present in the official game translation. In that case, an appended sic might serve the purpose better (and it can be viewed by normal readers and not just editors!). { TidB | t | c } 10:20, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Dictionary edit

Why did you delete the names from the dictionary?
GrampaSwood (talk) 17:12, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi, GrampaSwood.
I thought that Tournament_Medal_-_ozfortress_OWL/pt-br was an untranslated article, and proceeded to work on it. As I checked the preview, I noticed the infobox was displaying a faulty title ("template:dictionary/items|tournament medal - ozfortress owl" or something like that), which meant that the item had not been added to the dictionary yet. So I added it.
It turns out, however, that that page was supposed to be a redirect page, not an article. So I fixed it: I changed the article I had just wasted time translating to be a redirect page, and removed the names I unnecessarily added to the dictionary.
I hope that clarifies everything. =)

Sort of the Bosses/Event-specific Hazards Section

I disagree with the alphabetic sort. Alphabetical order is not always the best sort, considering the potential alternatives; topical (grouping by related or similar hazards) or release order (see game modes in List of Maps).

  • Bosses/Event-specific Hazards heading should be replaced with Bosses/Monsters
    • Horseless Headless Horsemann, Merasmus, MONOCULUS, Pumpkin Bombs, Skeletons, and yes, Ghost should be under this heading, probably in release order.
  • The Pumpkin Bomb reskins should be grouped together, because they are all the same hazard, even if they have somewhat different parameters.
    • There is no reason that the primary explosion trap, the Pumpkin Bomb, should not be the first in the list, it is the original and the most common, the rest are variants of the same mechanic.
    • If anything, Exploding Barrels, Dynamite Balloons, and Alien Walkers should be released-order subheadings under Pumpkin Bomb, especially since Pumpkin Bomb was updated to encompass the three reskins. Alternatively, all for skins could be put under a new "Exploding traps" heading.
    • This whole exploding traps section, with Area Explosion and Bomb Head, should then be moved out of the depreciated Bosses/Event-specific Hazards heading into the main hazards lists, just as Lava and Health Drain.

Your German "contributions"

Hello.

First, it might be my fault since I don't have much time for the wiki currently so it took me blistering 6 weeks to notice.

Nonetheles, how dare you to edit articles in a language you do not speak, adding wrong, Google-translated or copy-pasted text parts, even overwriting common string and similar templates with said strings, as well as overwriting previously correct strings with wrong ones. I totally approve that you improve the outdated structures of some localized pages, but if this goes beyond editing the template stuff top changing the localization itself, this is the job of translators who actually speak that language.

I must ask you to refrain from editing any German string that is not covered by dictionary templates. I need to correct nearly all of your edits. Thanks. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 10:11, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Globetrotter "bug"

Not sure if it's a real bug. The texture for the second style has the RED building for both teams. It would be considered a bug if in the texture the building was BLU, but for some reason in-game was the RED building: https://imgur.com/a/9a6xh0Q User Gabrielwoj Signature Icon.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 21:51, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Weird, but ok...
If you want to rename the section to "Notes", remove it or whatever, go ahead. - BrazilianNut (talk) 22:13, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
I think I'll keep as is for now, though other users may want to express their opinions below. I checked the Workshop images and the building was BLU on the Dust style, either the creator did a mistake when importing the item to the Workshop or Valve somehow messed up. "Availability: Halloween Package" on other pages.

Hi, I saw your edit on the Bat Outta Hell and I went to check the Wings of Purity page and noticed that there's no "Halloween Package" as an availability for it, despite 2014 Halloween items can be granted from it. Should we add it to all 2010-2014 Halloween items? User Gabrielwoj Signature Icon.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 21:10, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Be my guest. =) - BrazilianNut (talk) 22:24, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Alright then, I guess I'll start doing that tomorrow. I wonder if I'll get close to my 20k edits goal by doing that. User Gabrielwoj Signature Icon.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 22:32, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
EDIT: Before I start mass-editing pages, I have one question. Should we remove "Purchase" from the availability? I remember you (or someone else) told someone that these are no longer valid. User Gabrielwoj Signature Icon.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 22:38, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
I don't think we should remove halloween-purchase following the same logic of promotional items that can no longer be obtained; instead, we should change the tooltip's text to say how it used to be purchasable during Halloween events but not anymore. That, however, is a bigger issue that should be discussed elsewhere, not in some user's talk page. - BrazilianNut (talk) 23:16, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Well, anyway, every page that has "halloween-purchase" is based on a template, so it can be easily modified by just editing the main template and not every page. So I'll be starting adding the "Halloween Package" regardless of that. User Gabrielwoj Signature Icon.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 23:22, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
I was about to start doing the edits today, but I noticed something on the Halloween Masks page, and how Halloween Transmute is on the Availability. I think all items that you receive from the Package is also available on the Transmuting, however I'm not sure. The page for the Halloween Transmute states that the person will receive a "random previous Scream Fortress event", but I think this is incorrect. Can you confirm that all items from the Package are the same items that can be found via Transmuting? Thanks. User Gabrielwoj Signature Icon.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 19:51, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

I can confirm that Packages and Transmutes give random items from old Scream Fortress events; I can't confirm nor deny that their item pools are the same. I am pretty sure they are, but I'm not 100% sure. - BrazilianNut (talk) 20:32, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

— Tark lm(pt-br) 01:55, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

Your recent changes

Hey BrazilianNut, I have a few things I want to comment on regarding your changes to /da since that is the language I (occasionaly) translate for:

While I appreciate the work you put into putting a lot of old pages up to date for all languages alike I got to ask you to stop doing major changes to a language you do not even speak. Small mistakes here and there aside, the most prominent issue on my mind is that you removed all the articles from our cosmetic names. We had a good reason to keep them that way (which we already decided on years ago) and here is why:

The reason why the prefix system works great for English is because the article does not change the adjectives in the word; there is no difference between "a big elephant" and "the big elephant" beside the article of choice (indefinite or definite). Danish does not work like this. Our adjectives conjugate with our articles so we decided that we were gonna keep the articles anyways because if you use 'item name' and 'item link' it would not make sense without them anyways (so just more work for us having to add "den" and "det" all over the place manually) and even when an indefinite is used in the original text we would not be able to use them in our language since the adjective is conjugated wrongly anyways when using the item name and item link commands. Therefore we have gotten around this by other means, but it has not caused any problems.

What I am trying to say is, you removing those articles only created more hassle for us: the translators of the language.

Please go back and add all those articles you removed and do the same for the pages you changed. Thank you.

Faghetti V.2 (talk) 20:55, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

It is undone.
I am incredibly sorry.
- BrazilianNut (talk) 23:57, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
No hard feelings :) the rest of the changes are still fine so keep up the good work. I think the same article things apply for /no and /sv, but I cannot say for the rest. You should probably ask some people from the other translation teams just to be sure.
Happy updating.
Faghetti V.2 (talk) 07:38, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Greetings, BrazilianNut. Dereko just came here to say thanks to you for updating item set pages.

Hi there!

I noticed that you've edited those Item set pages, expecially the basic descriptions. The thing that bothers me a lot recently is about the interface, maybe called the aesthetic measure. The pages now add contribution information, set or some other short information under the , it may be much simpler compared with the old edition, but the empty space is a little weird here, since there's no empty space between the Update history and XXX patch just under it. So it's just a bit uncomfortable looking from the whole page. I wonder if we could have some other ways to make those item set pages more...nice XD (not good at English, I'm sorry...)Hagi (talk) 20:19, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Hagi.
I added that extra space between and the additional information because I felt the text after the table was too close to it. If it is bothering you, feel free to remove it.
Cheers - BrazilianNut (talk) 21:00, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
Yes I also felt that without the extra space the room between the table and information below are too close...Well it may be just ok, thanks for the reply and cheers to you too:)Hagi (talk) 07:19, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Marking pages for deletion

Heyo,

I've noticed that you often don't specify a reason when marking a page for deletion. An example of this occurance being this edit, in which you mark a language subpage for deletion without providing a reason, where none of us speak the language in question.

I'm sure you can see why this is an issue, as it is uncertain as to why that page be deleted, leaving it in queue for longer than it needs to be, or the request be declined entirely.

As already stated on Template:Delete, users must specify a reason for the deletion, so please make sure to do that henceforth. Thanks User Wookipan Golden Strawberry.png Wookipan (talk | contribs) 19:10, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Pesquisador Antártico

Obrigado por sua revisão lá. Mas vim aqui discordar de umas coisas.

"Anúncio publicitário" é algo redundante. "Sinopse publicitária" soa melhor.

02 Nº 1 -> 2 nº 1

O padrão do template lang icon sempre será inglês.

Tiagoquix (talk) 23:23, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Removi os números 0 da página original também. E retirei o |en também. Tiagoquix (talk) 23:34, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Tiagoquix (talk) 02:09, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Spanish pages updates

Hi. I appreciate that you help updating and correcting some words of the Spanish pages. I recommend you to:

  • The english name part of the items should be just (ITEMNAME, en inglés), as "en inglés" should not be in italic.

Just that. Thanks! · Ashe (talk) 19:44, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Ashe.
I recall seeing another contributor (a Spanish-speaking one) adding the original name with everything in parenthesis in italics, so I just went with it. I'll try to remember to put only the name in italics from now on; thanks for the message, and sorry for the mess.

Atualização de artigos

Oi!

Obrigado. — Tark lm(pt-br) 16:53, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Thousand-Yard_Stare%2Fja&type=revision&diff=3054313&oldid=3054296

I have translated it as the original English text, but what does this fix mean? Pen (talk) 15:45, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Pen.
Japanese uses different characters for parenthesis, correct? I simply replaced the parenthesis with the Japanese ones - same as using "、" to separate the classes in Computron 5000/ja instead of "," since the text is now in Japanese.

Gift disambig

Hi,
Could you please expand on why Haunted Halloween Gift was removed from the Gift for me?

Removed link to Haunted Halloween Gift, as it's just a redirect to another, already linked article

I'm genuinely missing out on it. It is a pickup, but one which still has it's own descriptive page instead of being a redirect to pickups, so why shouldn't it be noted there?
