An Item in Team Fortress 2 refers to objects that a player can hold in their Backpack.

Customisation

Using the Paint Can item, a user can change the colour scheme of certain items within Team Fortress 2. Currently only some Hats are paintable, but Valve have said if the community accepts the painting ability, they will extend the ability to weapons[citation needed].

Using the Name Tag or Description Tag items, a user can change the name and/or description of an item.
