Grade is an intrinsic sub-quality of Decorated weapons and certain cosmetic items.

Item grades were first introduced in the Gun Mettle Update. Most items unboxed from Event Cases released past this update have a Grade. The grade of an item is not a Quality, but rather an indicator of the designated rarity of an item. Decorated weapons and cosmetic items use their respective grade color code when viewed in-game, rather than the color code associated with their quality. Civilian and Freelance Grade weapons cannot be unboxed, and can only be obtained as Contract rewards. Currently, there are six different Grades of items.
