A salty king of the hill map set in a sea-side fishery, for your consideration.

Brine is a symmetrical community-made King of the Hill map. It is a fishery where both teams must are fighting for control of it.

A Halloween version of the map was released in the Scream Fortress 2023 update.

Brine was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Locations

  • Red Crabbing Co. and Bluefin Fishery: the RED and BLU spawn rooms, respectively. They each have two lower doors, a central and a side one, with a resupply cabinet each, and an upper side door with no cabinet (on the right side for RED and on the left side for BLU).
  • Slider Sailing Co. and Bijou Buoys Ltd.: the first building that RED and BLU (respectively) must go through or around. The Slider Sailing Co. building has several buoys hanging on its outer walls, while the Bijou Buoys Ltd. building has a "To die for" ad for canned fish.
  • RED and BLU Brinelake Cannery: the second building the teams must go through in order to reach the point. Going through the middle takes players straight to the point, with a side door above a few steps that can take players to a vantage point over the beach and the point. The side doorway offers flank routes to the point and the Storage Room. A third passage going under the building takes players to the Beach.
  • Control Point: the control point sits in-between two buildings, the Shack and the Storage Room's.
  • Storage Room: the interior of the central Brinelake Cannery building, containing a medium ammo pack and a small health kit.
  • Shack: A red wooden shack with access to a flooded underground passage connecting both sides of the map, as well as the Beach Perch.
  • Beach Perch: A veranda overseeing the Beach, which can only be accessed through jumping techniques. Beneath it are a medium ammo pack and health kit.
  • Beach: A small area that can be used for flanking.

January 13, 2023

  • Lowered the water level to fix the crouch bouncing issue. TODO: Provide a deep water area in the main open body of water.
  • Removed the two facing doors on the upper side behind the capture and made a new route to the drop down.
  • Added a new accessible upper area next to the point.
  • Raised/ blocked off the roof to the building in front of the point that showed to be over powered in the last test.
  • Changed the skybox/ overall lighting, brightened up some areas. TODO: brighten up some of the darkest spots.
  • Some minor health/ ammo adjustments.
  • Fixed an areaportal issue.

January 19, 2023

  • Removed paths into drop down area next to the point, opened up the sides of the upper area.
  • Removed cover walls on capture zone (as a test).
  • Added anti-cover roof slopes off new upper area next to point.
  • Opened a number of areas up to make it feel less tight, including the area next to the center cap.
  • Added new ramp up coming out of spawn courtyard, for optimization/ home-turf advantages.
  • Added path into sewer route from spawn, to help make it more useful.
  • Increased size and quantity of health and ammo packs.
  • Increased lighting all over map.
  • Some other stuff, probably.

  • Fixed out-of-bounds exploit on map.
  • Fixed a number of minor clipping exploits on the map.
  • Fixed missing soundscape.
  • Adjusted some doorways in the transitionary building going into mid to be wider.
  • A number of small optimization tweaks.
  • A number of small visual fixes.
  • Those birds are starting to get suspicious.
