Reddit is a social news and media website where users can submit posts in various different boards. Other users can then vote the content "up" or "down", ranking the submission and determining its position on the website's front page and other pages.
April Fools 2013
On April 1st, 2013, Reddit claimed to have bought Team Fortress 2 from Valve. The website then turned into a "battle" between two teams: Orangered and Periwinkle, a reference to the red and blue teams from Team Fortress 2. This was intended as an April Fools Joke, directed towards the users of Reddit.
Users could find weapons, items, and hats by posting links or comments. Weapons were used to scramble the posts/comments of users from the other team. Some items could be used to bypass this scrambling, or to do other things, while hats could be equipped by yourself, or onto other teammates.
The battle ended after around six hours.
