Infobox's team colors

Initially, I only added the Demoman's variants because of his team-colored collar; however, all classes but Demoman and Sniper have at least one unique pattern that's team-colored. Adding all of them would result in the infobox listing:

  • Scout's Hobbyist
  • Scout's Specialist
  • Soldier's Hobbyist
  • Soldier's Specialist
  • Pyro's Hobbyist
  • Demoman's Hobbyist
  • Demoman's Specialist
  • Demoman's Generalist
  • Heavy's Specialist
  • Engineer's Hobbyist
  • Engineer's Specialist
  • Medic's Hobbyist
  • Spy's Hobbyist
  • Generalist (all classes except Demoman)

If we add all of them, the infobox will be incredibly long; if we don't, the infobox will be incomplete.

How should we proceed? - BrazilianNut (talk) 03:30, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Honestly, I'd support both either way. This 1 cosmetic is like 70 in one. It would be responsible to have them all listed, but it's also gonna be VERY long unless we can make it collapsable somehow.

I didn't even saw this before making the edit, my bad. We only need to add support on the Template for more slots. I tried myself on my Sandbox, but I was unable to. I didn't invested much time, though. I don't plan on doing that, though, so anyone's free to do that, if they wish. Collapsable may need some extra work, idk why. About ties with the same colors on both teams, that's okay, check how it looks in Team Captain.
(P.S.: I always wanted to edit the template so single-colored variations on the RED/BLU section would appear in the middle, in the case of the Team Captain page, the Heavy version of the cap would only have 1 image, at the center, as opposed of two with the same picture. If that could be added in as well, it would look awesome). Would it be possible to make the team colors collapsible? - BrazilianNut (talk) 16:28, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
Personally I think if the template requires editing for a single cosmetic, might as well leave it out. It's too much work to just display ~14 styles for one cosmetic, which probably makes the page super long anyways. I'd say put everything into the gallery instead, realistically most people look on loadout.tf anyways.

If anything, we could make an exclusive template just for this cosmetic. A simple standard template made out of a huge vertical table. This would make it easier to implement the collpase mechanic. Each language page would require their own, though. I'm against this. Duck Journal's infobox is already horrible to look at.
If the idea is to make this new section collapsible (by default, I hope), the best course of work is to display them under the Gallery section. A collapsible table has way less value and would be way less obvious to readers. — Tark lm(pt-br) 19:55, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
What if we remove the teams colors and the Styles section's table, and instead have everything in the Gallery, with one tab for each style and team ("Hobbyist (RED)", "Hobbyist (BLU)", "Specialist (RED)"...)? The class portraits could have the characters repeating the same pose, with only the item's style changing from tab to tab, and the Styles section could say something like "For the item's styles, see Gallery".
By the way, I am proposing the removal of the Styles table because, unlike items such as the Horrible Horns and the aforementioned Duck Journal, it is as if this item has over 14 styles in total with the way its appearance changes from one class to the other. - BrazilianNut (talk) 20:53, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
I'm in favor of the thing Gabrielwoj talked about, making an exclusive team-colors template not just for this item, but for all items that might have large amounts of team colors in the future, where we are able to document them all, but allow it to be collapsible. That's definitely possible to achieve, I'm aware that the wiki has definitely had switchable "longform" templates before. We could both retroactively add it to the Duck Journal, and not have to remove anything here that way. Someone else mentioned a team colors gallery separate from the infobox, but if we're going to do that, why not just have a collapsible team colors box on the side anyway? It'd be largely the same thing.
Regardless, I'm against the idea of cutting corners in showing what we're able to of an item, simply because we might not like what the page will look like if we did. Team colors are a function we've chosen to document for every item that had them before, and I don't think we should stop halfway on it now, just because now there are so many. We should find some way to document them all, whatever that ends up being; but I'm in the camp that we should document them all even if we can't find a solution that doesn't make the page look too long for most people. -ThatHatGuy (talk) 00:53, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
