Likely for consistency, this song uses the same melody as the main theme and Playing With Danger as its basis. Differentiating this song is its lower tempo and note density, instead opting to place emphasis on its chords. To highlight this, there is very little in the way of melodic lines for the song, with heightened importance placed on the drums as it throws in more fills than typical. More melodic parts only really start with the guitar and a few flourishes from the brass. The introduction of such elements segues into a small saxophone solo, which acts as a call-and-response to the trumpet solo that follows. A drum interlude carries the rhythm while acting as a melodic break, before the saxophone carries the song back to its regular parts.

Similarly to the main theme, "Intruder Alert" is in the key of E Minor, and the bass line mostly stays within notes found in E minor (E, F#, G, A, B, C, and D). It continues to use elements of the main theme, but is much faster, with high-energy solos traded between tenor saxophone and trumpet throughout.

This track uses the same chromatic elements as the main theme as its basis, but differentiating is its higher tempo, more excited writing, and its solos which carry much of the melodic content. Though the bass line can be considered the focus of the track and its main foundation, the melody is largely found within the higher trumpet parts while the "groove" is laid out by the rhythm section, tenor saxophone 1, and low trombones. Over this groove, which also follows a more altered harmonic context than the main theme, high trumpets play longer held notes descending chromatically while trombones punctuate the bass line. After a repetition of this section with an added "call and response" between high trumpets and a trumpet solo, a tenor saxophone continues in a longer solo. Solos continue to be swapped, as a drum solo bridges the gap between the next section in which tenor saxophone and trumpet trade two bars each. Following that, a full repetition of the first phrase occurs, then all instruments (except solo trumpet and saxophone) play a unison Eb to end the track.
