Hello, QS Quark!

Welcome to the Official Team Fortress Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User QS Quark to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:QS Quark/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress Wiki!

Translations

Hi there,

I've made an edit to your Isotopic Insulator translation as well as an edit to your Bonk Beanie translations. Please take a look at see what I changed, as you forgot to link to the Czech pages in some links, and you didn't add any displayed text to the links in the "See also" section. Note that you can also look for Czech Wikipedia pages and link them instead of the English pages. If the English page is only available either omit the link or use {{lang icon}}.

Please also see this edit, make sure that every single link leads to the Czech page instead of the English one. This is mandatory for all links, even if the page doesn't exist.

Ok QS Quark (talk) 17:32, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

Please also see this edit, it's not necessary to link the main menu each time. Only the first instance should be linked, Notes should also begin with an asterisk (*). When a link has a section in it (for example [[Weapons#scoutmelee]], "scoutmelee" being the section) the language code (in your case, /cs) should be before the #.

Hey, what do you say should I update the cs pages first or create the ones that are missing first or something else entirely that will be beneficial for the wiki? Also sorry for being sloppy earlier QS Quark (talk) 11:23, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Both of them are beneficial, but generally creating new pages for things like weapons, maps, major updates, cosmetics (in that order) is seen as more important than updating old cosmetic item pages.

Oh is there a page where I can conveniently find the ones that need to be created like the Category: Translations needing updating one?

Translating the English page

Hi there,

Please look carefully as to which page you're updating, as you've translated the English page several times now rather than the Czech page.

Some templates

Hi there,

Please see this edit. {{lang icon}} is a template used whenever an external link is only available in English. For example, the links prefixed with "vdc:" lead to the Valve Developer Community, which has no translations. For these links, please add {{lang icon|en}} after them like I did in the edit. Please also use {{update link}} and {{update name}} for updates, the update link template adds both a link and a translation, while the update name one only adds a name.

{{Item link}} and {{Item name}} exists for the same thing, except for item names. Please use these templates as they make translating much easier and consistent between pages.

Got it, thank you QS Quark (talk) 14:13, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

What does this mean {{Update trans|Usage of {{tl|item name}} rather than English name, quotation}}? QS Quark (talk) 07:52, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

It means the quotation has to be translated, they're often left in English. And instead of using the English name of the item, such as "Backwards Ballcap", you use {{item name|Backwards Ballcap}}.

Hey can you check this edit to see if I did everything correct here. Also is the voiceline text also to be translated on the page. Thanks for the help QS Quark (talk) 08:11, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Yeah looks good. The names aren't translated because they need to be added to the Dictionary. As for voice lines, the text should also be translated, and then you should add |en-sound=yes at the end of it. If the quote has |translate=yes at the end of it, then it can be removed once the quote is translated.
