What is Merasmus actually saying?

I think he says "Pootis mon, CHRISTMAS!" TheGuy299 05:23, 27 October 2012 (PDT)

Don't be silly. It's something along the lines of "Mortis Longdistimus" (Pseudo-Latin for Long-Distance Death) Mbulmer 06:52, 29 October 2012 (PDT)
Came here just to say that. ==Fax Celestis talkcontribhome 13:28, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

Is the Huntsman thing a bug?

Is it possible to tell whether the Huntsman dealing non-critical headshot damage is a bug or not? Toomai Glittershine 13:36, 27 October 2012 (PDT)

Not a bug. Merasmus' head hitbox is huge, and the huntsman's minor aim correction thing plays into that as well. Further, he takes critical damage from everyone when he's throwing bombs or stunned. ==Fax Celestis talkcontribhome 14:18, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
Finding out that all the Sniper's primary weapons deal triple damage (which is pretty hard to believe is a bug, even by Valve standards) makes the original question moot. Toomai Glittershine 10:53, 30 October 2012 (PDT)
All crits deal triple instead of double against Merasmus. Spy's revolver, for instance, does 240 a shot. ==Fax Celestis talkcontribhome 06:43, 1 November 2012 (PDT)
Crits ALWAYS do triple damage...Redjarman 09:21, 1 November 2012 (PDT)

As for being the Soldier's Roommate...

Is it safe to say at this point that Merasmus is simply the roommate of the Soldier, rather than the RED Soldier or BLU Soldier? It's been referenced on both teams in the comics that the Soldier's roommate is a magician. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bralef (talk) • (contribs) 07:24, 28 October 2012

I think you have to say he is the RED soldiers roommate since that was shown in the latest comic Sleutelkind 04:58, 28 October 2012 (PDT)

In the comics, RED Soldier is Merasmus' roommate, and BLU Soldier is friends with RED Demoman. They just don't have team-specific lines in-game, so both soldiers wind up saying the same lines. Redjarman 12:00, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

I'm not talking about the in-game lines. In the Smissmas comic, for example, the BLU Spy says that the BLU Soldier's roommate is a magician. Bralef 20:51, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

Merasmus voice actor?

Anyone else think that Merasmus sometimes sounds like Wheatley from Portal 2? Cause some of the lines he says sounds like wheatley (including some of the sarcasm). Could make a nice trivia if it's found to be true. Ashes 02:27, 28 October 2012 (PDT)

I'm fairly sure it's not Stephen Merchant - if Merasmus is supposed to have a British accent it's a pretty bad one, as with all the mercs. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 04:47, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
It's definitely not Stephen Merchant, but I do wonder who the voice actors are for him and the Bombinomicon. It's the first time completely new voiced characters have been introduced, I think. EDIT: Listening to all the voice clips, I think it might actually be Robin Atkin Downes, the guy who voiced the Medic. It's just a guess, though. --Tinker 04:49, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
If it is Robin Atkin Downes, I'd be pretty pissed off.. He can voice an entirely new character, but he cant give the poor Medic some Domination lines? Wtf! Untamed64 08:04, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
Considering they put in a ton of Medic voice lines just for this event, they had him around anyway.--Tinker 03:39, 29 October 2012 (PDT)
Might want to listen to some of the lines Merasmus says. Especially the ones after you get Uber. You can hear a slight British accent in some of the lines. Also the sarcasm he gives as well. Ashes 12:37, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
Even if he does, that doesn't make him Stephen Merchant. --Tinker 03:30, 29 October 2012 (PDT)
I'm actually thinking this is Gary Schwartz for Merasmus (listen to the laughs he does... sounds like the Demoman), while the Bombinomicon is actually Nolan North, the voice actor for Uncharted's main star Nathan Drake. Yes, even though Bombinomicon sounds like a weird and warped version of Speedy Gonzales with some "Bomb-head" intentions, it's still Nolan. :D That Guy 12:31, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

Someone should contact Gary Schwartz or the other actors, asking if they voiced these new characters. Dogman15 14:09, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

Update: John Lowrie is not Merasmus: I e-mailed his agent. Dogman15 15:58, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

Isn't Merasmus' voice by Nolan North? antieye555 18:45, 2 April 2013 (PDT)

Already noted on the page. Also please check the time the last post was made. Ashes 18:47, 2 April 2013 (PDT)

Merasmus' Bombs

Are they airblastable? ==Fax Celestis talkcontribhome 14:18, 28 October 2012 (PDT)

I don't believe so Ashes 18:19, 28 October 2012 (PDT)

Bombinomicon as a separate topic and page?

After listening to endless new voice clips added in the new Halloween update, and the bigger role that the Bombinomicon has from both the Monoculus and the newer Halloween Boss, Merasmus, I see it fitting to give the Bombinomicon a newer page separate from its Badge page. While the Bombinomicon is a book, it talks, interacts with players, and plays important story roles in both Halloween specials of 2011 and 2012. Anybody agree? I need a vote :P That Guy 12:41 29 October 2012 I'd call it pretty fitting to be honest. He seems pretty major now to me. Upvote for me I guess. LightFlock 18:34, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

Level Cap?

Does anyone know what the maximum level Merasmus can reach is? I've gotten to 102 before the server I was on crashed. Torvaltz 15:23, 2 November 2012 (PDT)

Don't know the max. Here is a video where Merasmus is seriously nerfed. They got to Level 1337 (Leet?) before they got bored, they say. Mikado282 (talk) 21:28, 23 April 2014 (PDT)

Subliminal Message?

After Merasmus leaves, he says something...

One of the messages have something at the end.

I made a video of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1NsvU93BjU&feature=g-crec-u

^I extracted from the game

Can someone check? The voice seems to be from a Valve employer (also looks like Gabe Newell).

Far I heard, it seems they forgot to make like Merasmus voice (just recorded it), he says:

"See you at home, Soldier".

Gabrielwoj 11:12, 4 November 2012 (PST)

It's just Merasmus' voice, nothing odd about that. He is the Soldier's roommate after all. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 05:31, 6 November 2012 (PST)

Scott Pilgrim reference?

One of the songs played by Sex Bob-omb is called "Erasmus the Enchanter". Take the M out of Merasmus and you get Erasmus. Add this to the word "Enchanter" meaning wizard. I may just be looking for connections where there are none, but I would like an answer either way. Pie-ro 13:49, 29 December 2012 (PST)

Merasmus’ Gender?

RE, the last Trivia point (speculation that Meramus is female): Male voice actor? Masculine voice? Masculine appearance? Incarceration in a male prison? In my opinion, Merasmus is a send up of the fantasy fandom community. Someone who has spent enough time in fantasy fandom or medieval recreation groups recognizes the risk of a man in garb (like robes, long tunics or, best yet, houppelandes) being mistaken for a woman by “mundanes” today, much more so by people in the 60's who would have been much less accustomed to that sort of thing. IMO, nothing suggests Merasmus is female. Mikado282 (talk) 20:53, 23 April 2014 (PDT)

The Trivia point was removed. Mikado282 (talk) 17:50, 1 May 2014 (PDT)

Doesnt it say in the new comic they refer to him as a female. that was confusing when i read it. S.S. Dragon (talk) 23:50, 2 November 2014 (PST)

I think there is really nothing really to be confused about; “clothes make the man” and Merasmus is an “idiot in a dress.
“Merasmus is almost always refereed[sic] to as a woman by most others”
That is decidedly not the case! Merasmus is addressed as “ma’am” by only three people; two are strangers to Merasmus, outsiders to the Mann Co. circle. Bombinomicon’s words explain it all; the two detached strangers misconstrue his gender based on the idiot’s “dress” and the third, in drag herself, is only pretending to be just such a stranger. However, those who have no reason to be uncertain about Merasmus’ gender always address him as male:

p. 12. Merasmus: “Do you think you can bully Merasmus like he’s some cheap palor magician?
p. 19. Soldier: "And that is why he’s killing us right now!

Merasmus's new voice actor

On the page, it's says MERASMUS is voiced by Nolan North, but in Scream Fotress 2014, he definetly has a new voice actor. Anyone knows who is the new one? Also, please update the page if you do. LZoleee (talk) 17:56, 31 October 2014 (PDT)

Reported bug is wrong?

it says "When Merasmus uses his long-distance attack to set nearby players on fire, the Pyro will take damage from the initial attack, but remain visually on fire for the duration of the afterburn. The afterburn deals no damage; however, the Pyro can be specially affected by weapons that will deal Critical hits and Mini-crits on burning players (such as the Sun-on-a-Stick, Detonator, or Axtinguisher) as if the Pyro was on fire."

in the bug section. but isnt it the flare gun and not the detonator? i would edit it myself, but im not sure how to do that. also wanna make sure it is the flare gun they are meaning. S.S. Dragon (talk) 23:52, 2 November 2014 (PST)

the infobox of this page

  • Since Merasmus's health changes with his level, is the health value dependable?
  • The "Damge Done" has no information given here. Or it shouldn't be here?

I am also interested with other questions not answered above on this page, but my knowledge is too limited :( User Dereko Name.png 02:46, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Yes Merasmus' health changes with his level, but it should be noted by how much.
The damage done part should probably be filled in with the damage per attack.
For other questions that were left unanswered:
"New voice actor?": No
"Reported bug is wrong?": No, it says "that will deal critical hits and mini-crits on burning players" and Detonator deals mini-crits

Bomb head: damage or no damage?

In a recent edit on this article, it's been added that "If the player fails to reach Merasmus in time, the bomb will detonate but will not deal damage to the player or any surrounding players". However, in a recent video by Delfy, there's a moment where you can clearly see his bomb head detonating and dealing him 100 damage.

So which one is it? Does it damage the bomb carrier, or does it not? - BrazilianNut (talk) 19:27, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

1. Don't watch Delfy.
2. It shows that it damages the player in the video so you can make your own conclusion from that.
GrampaSwood (talk) 19:33, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Merasmus' damage

So i've tested the damage of the 3 types of Merasmus' attacks. Here's what I found:
- Fire spell: between 20 and 50 at level 1 (depending of distance), and increases with his level.

The formula is minimum damage = 20+(5*(lvl-1))
            and maximum damage = 50+(5*(lvl-1))

Its range also increase with level. Starts at 600 Hu and gain 50 Hu per level.
- Staff: his melee always deals 70 damage, regardless of the level.
- Grenade (unconfirmed): Merasmus can throw grenades while chasing players, and when he's "reading". His grenades deals between 8 and 50 damage, and its radius is approx. 300Hu.
I've checked this on the leaked source code (source 1 source 2), and confirm all data by playing on a offline server with the tf_damage_debug command. Here are my findings. Sadly, I didn't find the exact file for the Merasmus' grenade and its stats, but i've tested it. If anyone could find it and confirm it, it would be great ! ~Azsofe (talk) 13:24, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
