Since it was modelled by Telltale, and used as a cross-promotion, does that in fact mean it qualifies as "community contributed?" I saw that someone just added it to that category, but didn't want to revert it if they were correct. Mar 21:19, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Its not community contributed. As you say, it was created by Telltale Games and given to Valve. While therefore contributed, that doesn't make it community contributed, which implies that it was made by the TF2 modding community. -- Sabre 01:34, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Is This Trivia?

"*According to TF2items.com statistics, Max's Severed Head is most wanted hat in the game (as of 27/10/2010)."
I don't think this is trivia, nor should even be considered a factual representation of hat want. Serg 22:59, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

You are correct sir, that is not trivia. Removed. Moussekateer 23:02, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Even though it isn't trivia, I've seen a remarkable number of people thinking it is, or putting it on this page without talking about it on the Talk page. Would be nice if people check the discussion page before adding this :) StarYoshi 20:32, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Values are variable. I mean A LOT. We shouldn't put this in trivia. It might just be the least common hat or something. Pierow 09:13, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Vintage

I have heard it sworn that there is a vintage version of this hat but have never seen one. Can anyone confirm this either way?Askindava 20:00, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

There is some guys with a vintage one. It's probably a glitch, just like vintage bill's hat -- User Swordz Swordz.pngSwordzUser Swordz Swordz.png (talk | contribs) 20:02, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Should such glitches be mentioned on the main pages, or should they be contained to the discussion pages? Askindava 20:11, 21 December 2010 (UTC) Yes there are vintage versions of it Lumbricus lid too, proof: http://www.tf2items.com/id/SSaaMM_?time=1296239723. Ykane 22:12, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Indubitably Green is blank for this hat.

I do not know where the photos are stored either.

Working fine here. Clear your cache and load the page again. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 00:40, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
It looks fine to me too. Try ctrl-f5 ing a few times and see if that clears it up for you. FYI:the image is located here [1] Natemckn 00:42, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Relevance?

The beginning of the article, regarding how this hat was obtained, states "The offer is no longer available." Is it even necesary to say this? None of the other parts of the Sam & Max promotion (or any other promotional hats for that matter) say this, that I'm aware of. I'm editing it out unless informed otherwise. --Funkadacious 01:29, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

I would agree with that; that sentence seems superfluous. Esquilax 01:30, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, thought it would be better than "The item was awarded to players who bought Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse within the first week of its release and is no longer available." which makes it seem like the game is removed from the store. Oh well. GeminiViRiS User GeminiViRiS Doubleface.jpg Talk Contribs 01:34, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
That makes sense too, but the article probably doesn't need it. Esquilax 01:37, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Another thing, if this page is about just the hat, why is the second paragraph about the Big Kill and the Lugermorph?

"In addition to the hat, two weapons were also released; the Lugermorph, a pistol usable by the Scout and Engineer, and the Big Kill, a revolver usable by the Spy. These weapons were part of the preorder promotion for Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse (Telltale Games)."

Just saying, but if this article is just about the hat, this paragraph should not be present, as the weapons themselves do not include a paragraph like this. --Funkadacious 18:18, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Class images

This hat needs pictures of being worn by all classes, like every other multi-class hat. Just a reminder.--Focusknock 21:30, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Somewhere the similar theme already was discussed, and administrators have accurately and clearly told that is not necessary. But I personally would want to see for all classes. And itself too with pleasure would load pictures. Rins :O (talk | contribs) 05:49, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

In that case they're being very hipocritial, especially as they have class pictures for the Alien Swarm Parasite, Ellis' Cap and Bill's Hat. Consistency is key. --Focusknock 19:43, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
I don't see a problem with having class images... however it's possible that the reason for a couple of pages lacking this is because the positioning of some hats on some classes is screwed in the model viewer. That and it gets kind of hard to think up new poses for the classes, too (it is for me anyway ;p) seb26 20:46, 26 February 2011

Comic-Con Ad

Any chance someone could dig up this picture? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see Sam wearing Max's head. --Trogdorbad 14:18, 7 September 2011 (PDT)

I haven't seen the picture, but does it have anything to do with TF2? » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 14:51, 7 September 2011 (PDT)
It's a comic-style picture of Sam wearing Max's Head. And no, it's got nothing to do with TF2, AFAIK anyway... User Wingless Winged Signature.png 15:01, 7 September 2011 (PDT)
It has nothing to do with TF2. If we noted anything that could be nearly identical to anything, well, we'd be a bad Wiki. – Smashman (talk) 15:36, 7 September 2011 (PDT)

.MDL

Does anyone know the technical name of Max's Severed Head in the game files? FireTF2 13:01, 8 November 2011 (PST)

  • models/player/items/pyro/pyro_ttg_max.mdl, etc. Replace pyro with other classes. --Fashnek 13:19, 8 November 2011 (PST)

Duped hat

Should it be mentioned somewhere that the Max's Head has been duplicated before, or is it not that big of a deal?

It seems like one of those things that would go into trivia, but I'm not sure.

Spam90675 18:20, 21 January 2012 (PST)

It's not really trivia, nor is it exclusive to this item. Balladofwindfishes 18:22, 21 January 2012 (PST)

Possible reference?

When I was playing Sam & Max BTS Episode 1 on an Iphone, I discovered there was an item named the President's Severed Head in the closet of Sam & Max's Office. Do anyone think this might be a reference to the hat's name? Max 05:45, 1 April 2012 (PDT)

Not really. This is the severed head of Max, so it is called Max's Severed Head. -Mr. Magoolachub 05:47, 1 April 2012 (PDT)
I'm sorry, but I think this matter needs opinions from other users as well. Max 05:49, 1 April 2012 (PDT)
Sure thing, but the fact that you felt the need to put {{citation needed}} on your edit shows it belonged more on the talk page than the article at the moment. -Mr. Magoolachub 05:51, 1 April 2012 (PDT)
Right, got your point. Thanks. Max 06:09, 1 April 2012 (PDT)

Equip Region

I dont have this, but i already see many guys using this with ANYTHING after the update that make Miscs and Hats turn into Cosmetics Soooo, its supposed this happen? Is this a Bug?If isn't a bug why in Equip Region is saying "Hat" not "Max's Severed Head Specail"(Like Earbuds)? PaoCharmoso (talk) 18:53, 26 February 2014 (PST)

Its more less people abusing a little glitch. Not really notable though since its purely cosmetic and has no effect on gameplay aside from making your class look like a fool really. And no, its not an equip region bug. Ashes (talk) 20:24, 26 February 2014 (PST)
I just went and had a look at the schema, and for some reason, the hat doesn't actually have an equip region. I've fixed it now, and the bot just needs to create the info for it. --Omolong (talk) 12:19, 27 February 2014 (PST)

Kritzkast trivia

shouldn't this be a trivia, that this item is a part of the Kritzkast promotion on the screenshot competition Villager3056 (talk) 01:26, 29 August 2014 (PDT)
