- The taunt is based off a dance done by Carlton Banks in the television show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, while dancing to the Tom Jones song "It's Not Unusual".
- The description of the taunt is a reference to another Tom Jones song, What's New Pussycat, and the movie by the same name.
- Scout was first seen doing a less exaggerated version of the Carlton in the Team Fortress 2 short film Expiration Date.
