Hello, Twolfe!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Twolfe to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Twolfe/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Show Preview

Pictogram info.png Please make use of the Show preview button. It gives you a preview of the edit you are making, allowing you to perfect your changes before you save the page. You can edit the whole article by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, which is preferable to editing multiple sections consecutively. Discussions

Pictogram info.png Please take care when posting on talk pages not to revive discussions that finished years ago. If you think these topics should be brought up again, please start a new section. Thank you. -- — Tark lm(pt-br) 05:18, 10 November 2016 (PST)

Would it be possible to archive old discussions, then delete them, so that this doesn't happen (and you don't need to remind people) in the future? If you want me to do it, what is the process to archiving discussions? twolfe (talk) 05:37, 10 November 2016 (PST)
Content talk pages are usually only archived if they're big. This is often not the case, just look at the timestamp to identify the topic's age you want to reply to. Also, the talk page entries are sorted chronologically. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 08:36, 11 November 2016 (PST)

Sub-group of weapons: Long Blade (Melee). My thoughts:

Let's start with some basic facts:

  • There is a common term called a Demoknight:
    • A Demoman typically wielding the Chargin' Targe, Tide Turner or Splendid Screen that actively uses their melee weapon.(from Glossary of player terms)
    • In MVM there is a Demoknight (Type 1) (uses the Chargin' Targe and Eyelander), Demoknight (Type 2) (uses Ali Baba's Wee Booties, Splendid Screen, and Persian Persuader), Samurai Demo (Uses Splendid Screen and Half-Zatoichi), and a Giant Demoknight (Demoknight (type 1) but also with Ali Baba's Wee Booties and giant).

My thoughts:

  1. With the common term (by players) of "Demoknight" and with Valve officially calling a robot that has a shield and can only melee attack a "Demoknight", it feels like they (Valve) have embraced that a Demoknight is sub-class.
  2. All the weapons that have "larger melee range, longer deploy, and holstering" (paraphrasing) either boost shield recharge, have no random crits (making the shield perfect for timed crits), or ake you slower (making the shield perfect to make up for reduced speed). Now, the last point isn't necessarily to be combined with a shield, but an in game tip said that (I will be paraphrasing) since the Skullcutter lowers your speed, you might want to pair it with a shield to make up for that lack of speed (hint, hint, anyone?).
  3. Looking at the above information, that is why the Demoknight is a sub-class, and it's melee weapons (the one with larger melee range,...)are a sub-group of weapons. I call these weapons "Long Blade(s)" because they are longer (in appearance and in description) and they have blades. Now the name can be up for debate, but I still believe they deserve the special attention that they need (their own page).

If you have any questions, please ask.

Dude, recently you've been reverting almost all of my recent edits. Stop that. They are good and I triple check for correct grammar. I'm not mad, just curious why suddenly a random person starts reverting all my edits. No hard feelings. Leaderboard class scout.png Scunt Main 13:22, 16 March 2017 (PDT)

Hello. Firstly, please fix your signature dear god. You want to have something like this:
<span style="font-size: 18px; font-family: TF2 Build; color: black; line-height: 14px;">The Scout</span>.
Secondly, I don't see much undos by him, if you're talking about this one, then twolfe was totally right. If we'd describe every community-defined class behavior in the strategy it would be huge. If you want, add it to the Community strategy version of the page, but definitely not to the main page. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 02:00, 17 March 2017 (PDT)
Ok, sorry. I use Grammarly for spellchecking and grammar issues and I just want to be able to contribute to this wiki. I don't have pretty much any knowledge about the coding stuff involved like info boxes, links, and etc. Sorry if I am a burden. I wasn't angry or anything. I thought it was weird that this one single guy has been editing my edits. It's fine. No hard feelings. Also what is wrong with my signature? Nikno, you can answer that on my user page if you don't want to answer it here. Leaderboard class scout.png Scunt Main 07:54, 17 March 2017 (PDT)
Please change your signature to
<span style="font-size: 18px; font-family: TF2 Build; color: black; line-height: 14px;">SCUNT MAIN</span>
Your code is taking up way too much text space. Thanks. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 03:16, 18 March 2017 (PDT)
How is this? Leaderboard class scout.png SCUNT MAIN 09:50, 21 March 2017 (PDT)

yep, after doing more research (than I care to) on gramophones and record players, they are one and the same. So I will go with the original post that called it a gramophone (the very first one that is. Thanks for catching this.
