Certain weapons in Team Fortress 2 fire "projectiles". These are attacks that aren't instantaneous like Hitscan weapons are.

Examples of some of the attack based projectiles in the game are:

Rocket.png A Rocket fired from the Soldier's Rocket Launcher

Grenade proj red.png A Grenade fired from the Demoman's Grenade Launcher

Arrow proj.png An Arrow fired from the Sniper's Huntsman

Some projectiles aren't used specifically for attacks, but instead are used for the effects it has on opponents such as Jarate, Sandman, or flares.

Compression Blast

The Pyro's alt-fire has the ability to reflect any projectile except for syringes fired from the Syringe gun and Blutsauger.

  • Rocket's and grenade's reflected turn into mini crits
  • Sticky bombs are pushed back, which can be used to clear them off a point or any area they're in that the Pyro's team needs to traverse
  • Reflected Jarate will splash onto anyone on the original thrower's team that happens to be in the area where the jar breaks

Knock Back

The Soldier and Demoman both have projectile weapons that can knock opponents into the air if they are shot near opponent's feet. This tactic can be used to juggle opponents.

The knock back effect can also benefit Soldiers and Demomen by giving them the ability to use self damage on their self for increased mobility or to get to areas normally unreachable to them. This is called Rocket Jumping Or Sticky jumping.
