Letter from Saxton Hale
Ooh, it is sad day!
The Heavy

Item Retirement is a concept announced in an official blog post on January 10, 2013. The blog post, authored by Saxton Hale, states that certain hats would be permanently retired. The first batch of retired items are no longer available from the Mann Co. Store, uncratable as unusual hats, droppable via the drop system or obtained as a craft result - and have not been since January 25, 2013.

Retired items will still be obtainable by unboxing Mann Co. Supply Crates that contain them, in unique quality only.
