User talk:The Scout
Hello, The Scout!
Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!
Here are a few links to get you started:
- If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
- If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
- Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
- To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
- You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
- When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
- This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
- Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
- When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
- You can use the
button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
- If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
- If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
- You can also customize your user page if you like.
- When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User The Scout to the file's name.
- Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:The Scout/ to the page title when you create the page.
Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

lol k
just an fyi for tooltips, here's an introduction:
{{tooltip|TEXT DISPLAYED|TOOLTIP TEXT}}
that above is the basic syntax for your average tooltip
also, if you want, you can add a tooltip to your gender on your user page. i didn't do that because i couldn't think of a suitable tooltip.
also, the user infobox has much more parameters, such as birth place and more.
go to Template:User_infobox for more information and official documentation
also, for userboxes (like the "This user is a Spy" box), go to Userboxes for a whole list to choose from

- K. Gotcha. Thanks! (I totally didn't just copy your code since I don't know how wikipedia format stuff works)
Scunt Main 09:39, 8 March 2017 (PST)
- lol yeah i actually can tell that you copied the code, so i guessed you were sorta new to this and told ya about the syntax.
- to tell the truth, my userpage is based almost completely off other userpages. it's just finding random userpages, saying "hey that looks nice", and copying whatever they have. some of it was just looking at the code and messing around to find the syntax. ⇒
Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 10:54, 8 March 2017 (PST)
- Yeah I really like how you did your user page so I just copied it and edited it. It's really cool.
Scunt Main 10:08, 9 March 2017 (PST)
- Thanks! Also thanks for the wikichievement (first)! ⇒
Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 10:21, 9 March 2017 (PST)
- No prob m8.
Scunt Main 10:22, 9 March 2017 (PST)
- Also, could you check your talk page? I added something.
Scunt Main 10:32, 9 March 2017 (PST)
- Oh, didn't see that. Check back for my reply. ⇒

Recent Undo's
The Scout, I will be answering directly from the blurb you left on my talk page. I only edit what needs to be changed and/or should not have been changed. There is more than one way to write something in the English language (I don't know your education nor your native language). If something is fine, we should leave it as is. The less edits the better. This helps the mods have more time on fixing the bigger mistakes and false information. Also, if I didn't change what you edited, someone else would have/will (in the future). You will have plenty of people looking at your changes, undoing them, and/or changing them. The same happens to me.
Secondly, I am on the IRC channel daily. This is a forum that people can chat together (mainly about the wiki) and also communicate with the mods easier. All the edits that happen to the wiki are shown here. You are not the only one that I have made changes to. I am not fluent in other languages other than English. Therefore, I usually always check changes that are made on the English pages. You have just been making a lot of changes as of late, which is why it might seem I have been "regularly" changing your changes. I am not out to get you, I am just trying to make the wiki the best it can be.
Thirdly, general rule: There is always a " , " before "but" (or any iteration, such as "however") if "but" is in the middle of the sentence. If "but" starts a sentence, the " , " is after the "But". This has been a reoccurring theme in your changes.

- Okay, sorry. I do speak english and I'm in the 8th grade so I don't know how much education that counts. No hard feelings man. I was just wondering who this random person was changing all my recent edits.
Scunt Main 07:45, 17 March 2017 (PDT)
- I was just trying to bring up the point that you can write sentences multiple ways. It was more of a generalization. I didn't want to assume your language skills nor your education, that is why I added that I don't know your knowledge base (at least that is what I was trying to get at).
|| twolfe's page || twolfe's talk page 07:55, 17 March 2017 (PDT)
- It's fine. I understand. Thanks for clearing that up though!

- Scout, please stop using Grammarly. I put my corrected sentence (see here) and it said there were no punctuation or grammar mistakes. Not every program is great in doing these things. This is also the reason translators have to be knowledgeable about the language they translate. Programs, such as Google translate, do a horrible job with grammar and correct sentence structure.
|| twolfe's page || twolfe's talk page 10:59, 17 March 2017 (PDT)
- I use Grammarly too, but only to remind me of things I missed. Sometimes Grammarly helps, but most times I ignore it anyways. ⇒

User pages
Hey there, Please refrain from creating user pages on the mainspace. Any personalized pages related to you should be created as a user subpage. The formatting is generally [[User:The Scout/subpagenamehere]]
I moved your recently created page to User:The Scout/Scunt Main's Friends for now.

Licensing
If a picture isn't going on your user page (the actual wiki), make sure to have the proper licensing of the image's page. || twolfe's page || twolfe's talk page 10:16, 23 March 2017 (PDT)
- Which licensing do I use for an image from a custom map?

- Pan here. You're free to use my edit as a reference if you become unsure about licensing. Though it's best you read Team Fortress Wiki:Licensing images.
