Hello, Scumhum!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Scumhum to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Scumhum/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Review your edits

Please check the reasons for your edits being reverted please, so that you can avoid similar incidents in the future. Please also make use of the Show preview option. Thanks. i-ghost (talk) 09:59, 10 July 2016 (PDT)

Hi I-ghost, im new here, could you please tell me what i did wrong so i can make sure i don't continue to make the same mistake? thanks :) Scumhum 10:04, 10 July 2016 (PDT)

Sure, follow this link and click the diff link for an edit, then check the next edit for the page to see the reason for reversion. Some of your edits are fine, and just needed some spelling and grammar cleanup. Other edits were removed because they didn't fit the article as the information was already present, or was noted on a different page already, like the Australium edit. i-ghost (talk) 10:09, 10 July 2016 (PDT)

Hold it pally.

Pictogram info.png Please make use of the Show preview button. It gives you a preview of the edit you are making, allowing you to perfect your changes before you save the page. You can edit the whole article by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, which is preferable to editing multiple sections consecutively. Thanks. :) --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 20:50, 31 July 2016 (PDT)

Hi Dr. S! im new here, could you tell me what i did wrong? I would appreciate it :) THANK YOU!!! 18:56, 1 August 2016 (PDT) The preceding unsigned comment was added by Scumhum (talk) • (contribs)

Well firstly, you forgot to sign your comment. For all talk page comments you make, you need to place a signature that gives a timestamp of when it was posted and your name so we know who made the comment. To place your signature, all you have to do is type four tildes in a row. A tilde is that wiggly symbol at the top left of your keyboard. (This is a tilde: ~ )
Secondly, small minor consecutive edits on one page is frowned upon as they constantly show up in the Recent changes. That is why we encourage everyone to use the show preview button. We have an instructional video series that can help you with these basics: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZe1tXxqOJpFsLrfBDiGJi8xT26Lm9rpA
Thank you for your time, and welcome to the Team Fortress wiki. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 19:03, 1 August 2016 (PDT)

I see, so I should edit the entire page at once instead of many small edits? also the video help a bit, thank you :3 Scumhum 19:13, 1 August 2016 (PDT) (also did i sign this right?)

Yes. You can do minor edits, but in case there's more that need to be done, always check your work to see if there's more, or if your edit screwed something up. And yes, you did! :) --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 19:19, 1 August 2016 (PDT)

Thanks! one more question, when i click the contributions tab, theirs a ton of numbers next to my edits and the word "current" in prosthesis and emboldened. what it mean?? thanks again 19:28, 1 August 2016 (PDT)

Uh hold on something screwed up with your signature. Your name isn't appearing, just the time stamp. You may need to fix it. You can do so here.
As for your question, those green and red numbers you see is how many bits of memory you edited on that page. The bigger the number, the more you edited. This is to keep track of large edits when viewing Recent Changes. As for {current}, it's shows that the specific edit it's in front of is the current version of that page. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 19:42, 1 August 2016 (PDT)
