Talk:Unusual Cap

Effect

Changed the effect from Community Sparkle to [#] (same as the Finder's Fee) but felt that it needed to be addressed here. While the hat is Self-Made quality, unlike usual Self-Made items the effect is instead the one the owner submitted. For example: Unusual Cap with Neutron Star and Unusual Cap with Tesla Coil.

Additionally, given the particular nature of this item, should owners of it be included in the List of Self-Made item owners or be included in a new list? - Tasty Salamanders (talk) 00:01, 11 November 2016 (PST)

Hat origin

I remember reading a while ago, and more than once, that Valve made this hat (and the Finder's Fee) to prevent people from abusing the old prize of whatever Unusual Hat with any effect they wanted to affect the economy. Is this true, is there any proof and should it be added to page if so?--Leaderboard class allclass.png Akolyth (talk) 06:29, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

I don't recall Valve mentioning anything about that statement, it is most likely a rumor. YossefTalk 06:39, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
The Finder's Fee was created after someone requested a Sunbeams Wiki Cap, which caused a controversy. However, this is only speculation and never actually confirmed by Valve (and likely never will). As far as I know, this cosmetic was never created for any similar reason, just as a way to let Unusual effect creators show off they made it.
