Just a heads up, I'm going to be reorganizing this page. I'll be moving some things around and adding a new section on overall strategy, Team Class Compostion, and a better way to categorize the classes. --Aranarth 16:40, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Good luck this page is a mess. Meter1060 20:00, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Hello, if there is no problem, I will make some minor changes to the text so it is easier to read, and fix some grammar issues. Stukov Wolfwood 17:04, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Well in the end i did a bigger job that i expected to do. Hope this is way better than what it was before. Stukov Wolfwood 21:53, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

  • This page might be marked for cleanup, but the sections I added (The Classes) and also the sections on Team Composition and Communication are PART of that cleanup. In any case, always post on the discussion page BEFORE you do major reworking of an article that took someone else a great deal of time and effort to come up with. If you don't tell me why you think the sections on this page deserve to be completely replaced with something else, I'm going to undo your edits. Discuss first, which I'm happy to do, THEN delete.

If you want to add, feel free to add without asking permission unless it's a redundant (unnecessary or appears on other pages) addition, but subtraction needs to be done more carefully. --Aranarth 03:50, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Why do we need a Class Section?

The classes, by themselves, already have their own strategy geared for single player uses. While I came across this article to edit, it seemed that the class section is, by itself, unnecessary since it does not conjure a strategy which revolves around team play. It seem more like a beginner's guide to it rather than how to improve your skills by using your skills for the betterment of the team. Either we should delete that section or revision it to be more team orientated.Wintergreen 05:57, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

  • I disagree. I think this section explains the basics of team strategy very well. Sure, it's a beginner's guide, but I see nothing wrong with that. It's not like beginners don't use the Wiki. Zoon-li 16:09, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you; that's exactly what I was aiming for. The average TF2 public player does not really grasp the concepts on this page, especially if they primarily only play 2-3 Classes regularly which is fairly common. --Aranarth 22:50, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

About group rols and descriptions of some of the tactics

Some tactics are arguably confuing in ther description, like [1] Ninjaneer, since it explains that an Engineer is being escorted behind enemy lines by combat clases when most of the time a single Engineer will try to do it on his own to not get too much attention. Some middle groud here could be achieved by describing the group as a distraction for the enemy while the Engeneer gets behind their lines, otherwise is just taking grond because there is no stealth at all in going against the opponets in such an obvious way. Since I'm not sure about this technique yet, I'm giving my suggestion here of changing that description so it's more clear what the engineer is trying to achieve using his teammates's help, if any help at all. Also, other ways of Ninjaneer exists, like leaving a disabled teleporter hidden behind where the next enemy spawn is going to be and then, after the enemy changed their spawn, create the other part of the teleporter so it's not seen due to the lights of an active teleporter making it easier to get caught. There are some details and some advices that could be given here but I don't know how deep this article is trying to be, or if it should be inside the article about Community Engineer strategy. [2] Another one is making a wall with sentries, wich is not very effective since they can get wiped down easily and they cover less ground than a group of sentries being separated and covering eachother. There is some notes about the weakness of a sentry, but not a lot is clarified about this method of using them, just something vague about their own range and not the combined ranged they could have if used diferently, as an example. [A] Should this article be very basic with it's information, giving just names, terms and little depth about them, or it should be expanded? If it's just about trend and methods of play, [B] should things like Combat medics and combat engineers, be put inside the classes and how they interact with eachother (quickfix medics to give quick heals, minisentries to cover ground a little since they can deal a lot of damage like that, and focusing on keeping teleporters comming out to keep the preassure on but not nests, etc)? I'm not sure if I'm right with my assumptions here, so until I'm more sure about this, I'll wait and then translate the rest of this article to Spanish. Thank you very much for your time. "Cooperating with Classes" Section?

I feel like there should be a section for general tips for cooperating with other players that are dependent on the other player's class, but not your own. For example, it's just generally being helpful to switch to Engineer during setup to upgrade allied Engies' buildings. It doesn't matter what class you're going to play during the game ('maybe' Medics shouldn't do this, but it otherwise applies to every class), it's just generally helpful. Teleporter etiquette and protecting your Medic are also examples. I don't think this would be a good section for the class-specific strategy pages, because a) those pages are generally targeted at the ones playing that class, and b) it'd often end up being the same tip repeated in like seven different class sections. Thing is, I'm not certain that that's enough reason not to put it there, nor am I certain that there isn't another place it should be put. Thoughts? Kestrelguy (talk) 21:58, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
