Transcript

Does this video really need a transcript? It doesn't really have voice acting and the Plot Summary sums it up anyways. Paint Splat TheValueOfTeamwork.png ClockworkSpirit2343 Scout emblem RED.png 14:40, 9 December 2014‎ (PST)

I also think it's not necessary, but let's see how will be the final decision. — Tark lm(pt-br) 15:16, 9 December 2014 (PST)

Notes

It appears that the trivia stating how the Demoman destroys the cab is false. In the trailer, it almost looks like he simply was using the bombs to get the train moving, as the cab itself shows almost no sign of damage at the start. Should this be changed? Pyrochu1770 (talk) 10:01, 15 December 2014 (PST)

Do we really need a section that is effectively just pointing out what would have happened on a regular train? In my opinion it is quite irrelevant what normal safety measures exists, since this was a deliberate action. They would have gotten rid of stuff that would have prevented their plan.--Henke37 (talk) 04:56, 10 December 2014 (PST)

I agree. Pointing out really specific flaws is unnecessary. And anyways, the dead man brake thing isn't even a thing at the time the video takes place. "Older locomotives produced before 1995 do not carry this feature." ErnieTheGreatest (talk) 17:30, 10 December 2014 (PST)
Did you really have to wipe out that entire note? Air brakes were definitely available by 1900. 1230james (talk) 19:24, 12 December 2014 (PST)
Once again, we don't need to point out everything that happens on a real train. This is a fictional video, so why point out facts about a train in which no one really finds interesting? Ashes (talk) 19:28, 12 December 2014 (PST)
I've seen plenty of examples where flaws were pointed out, but no one really fusses about it. Then I look at this and you all say "this is fictional; no one cares." Whether it's fictional or not doesn't exactly prove anything. 1230james (talk) 19:33, 12 December 2014 (PST)
Yes flaws are pointed out, but we don't need literally half a page of "how a train/air brakes" operates. Henke does have a point regarding this, since well... if someone was really that interested on how a train operates realistically, they would look up themselves. Ashes (talk) 19:35, 12 December 2014 (PST)
They wouldn't look it up if nothing prompted them to look it up. I find it hard to imagine an average person watching the video, then suddenly decide to look up train facts. 1230james (talk) 07:06, 13 December 2014 (PST)
@ ErnieTheGreatest: Dead man's switches have been installed in locomotives since ever they ran on electricity or diesel and defeating the Dead man's switch has been a trope ever since (Silver Streak (1974))-- so cliché as to be not notable. Demoman's bombing of the cab is a just a handwave to say, yeah he's done something to break the dead man and wrecked the controls so no one can get on and stop it. Rivet Counting

  • common links
  • passive voice
  • spelling/word choice/noun-verb agreement (Collective noun)
  • They are painting intermodal containers (patented in 1968, BTW), not boxcars (this is North American prototype anyway)
  • floaties at 0:33
  • reorder to follow timeline
  • At 2:22, when the BLU Soldier lights his cigar, it already has ashes on it. Cigars go out, that’s what they do: smokers relight them, that’s what they do. It’s a visual trope, not a gaff, signifying completion of preparations, relighting a cigar is completely appropriate at such a moment. Besides, even if it is a fresh cigar, you really don’t get to look at the cigar before he lights it (properly rotating and not drawing, BTW), certainly not enough to make it notable enough to speculate.
  • This may be a result of them simply not following the route or dropping the Payload. Speculation. It’s just a gag. It doesn’t need to be rationalized. They could just be trying it again. It’s just a sight gag; implying the war continues.
  • Add railroad sins.
