Gift disambig

Hi,
Could you please expand on why Haunted Halloween Gift was removed from the Gift for me?

Removed link to Haunted Halloween Gift, as it's just a redirect to another, already linked article

I'm genuinely missing out on it. It is a pickup, but one which still has it's own descriptive page instead of being a redirect to pickups, so why shouldn't it be noted there?

Thanks,
User Foxbite avatar.jpgfoxbite (talk) ⨯ (contribs) 22:38, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Foxbite.
It was a mistake, which I have already corrected. - BrazilianNut (talk) 22:39, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

Italian transaltion

Hello! I saw you're one of the few (if not the only one) that's translating italian pages. Would you like to get in touch? (p.s.: sorry if this isn't the right way of doing this, I'm kinda new :D ) Joshuadinada (talk) 16:57, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Joshuadinada.
I don't translate Italian articles, as I don't speak Italian; I only update, fix, and/or improve what I can on them.
Don't worry, this is exactly what talk pages are for. Cheers. =) - BrazilianNut (talk) 18:39, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Hey, why do you keep undoing my change of removing the english version on italian page quotes? most pages don't have both Joshuadinada (talk) 12:40, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Most of the Italian pages I've seen have both, but I might be remembering wrong. - BrazilianNut (talk) 22:05, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Technical request

After changes to Template:Spirit Of Giving ranks so the template would use strings stored in Template:Dictionary/items (Spirit Of Giving ranks), now in the infobox instead of normal 'Badge - Gifts Given: 0' there is now also 'None' added in front of it. In Polish version it adds the first rank name after the translated name, for some reason. Could you look into it to find what's causing it? User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 12:41, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Denied.
I'm sorry, but I'm as lost as you are when I look at the template's coding. I just know some basic commands, like text alignment and background color. I can't say what's causing the problem or how to fix it. - BrazilianNut (talk) 13:10, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Another technical request (more complicated)

Is it possible to modifity how Strange ranks are dispalyed on the Wiki for other languges than English? For example in Polish version 'Strange Scattergun' is displayed as 'Scattergun (Strange)'. Is it possible to move Strange rank name after the name of the item and automatically add ( ) symbols for it? User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 13:01, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Alright I'll go to Tark with it. Maybe he will know User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 13:22, 8 August 2022 (UTC).

BLU Wiki Cap single color Paint Cans

Hello. I saw that you added the needimage template for the BLU variation on single colored Paint Cans, but I'm not sure if they are necessary. As previously discussed here, there are a few other cosmetics that have slight differences between teams regarding the colorization. The Wiki Cap's colors has very, very small differences. There are other cosmetics on the list with other incredibly small differences. So the question would be: Are the BLU single colored Wiki Caps really needed, and if so, should the others on the list also be made? Well looks like someone else already did the BLU single colored Paint Cans, but I still don't see much difference between both teams, the difference is way too small for a full BLU Team variant table, and not noticeable unless you click the images to enlarge them, in my opinion. Hello, Gabrielwoj, and sorry for the late reply.
The Wiki Cap's difference between teams is not the painted areas, but the TF logo; because it is team-colored, it makes the single color painted variants look different on each team.
Cheers. - BrazilianNut (talk) 14:14, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
If that was the reason, then many painted variants would also require BLU painted variants, basically any item that has team-colored unpaintable areas (majority of shirt items), like Chaser, Western Wraps, to name a few. I did suggest/talked before about the possibility of single color Paint Cans for BLU on many cosmetics, since there's quite a few that it contrasts differently than the RED version and we don't have images for it, but that would mean a ton of new images that would be needed, but it also may not be necessary since the paintable area itself is not changed, only what's around it.
Basically, when the paint variants table was made, the game had simple cosmetics without much team-colored unpaintable areas, so BLU single colored Paint Cans weren't really needed since it would basically look identical to their RED counterparts. Things only started to change when we started getting into shirt items and such, which we now have many cosmetics with small paintable areas with unpaintable team-colored parts around them. About your message

Hello, BrazilianNut. Thank you for message! I am new, and i can't know all rules, or whatever. Thanks to you, i can make better pages. And finally, i have a question: In Turkhis wiki, Some pages has untranslated titles (like Pest's Pads, Kazan Karategi) and i want to translate they. But when i'm tryed, it gives me a error message. Do you know how to fix this? Or this is not an important thing? Thank you again. Yemej (talk) 14:16, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

All item names are stored in the dictionary. However, if an item does not yet have an official translation, do not create one of your own - again, check the localization files for official names, descriptions, etc. In the case of the items you mentioned, they are recent additions to the game and do not have official Turkish names yet.
You can use {{item name}} and {{item link}} in articles so that, when these items receive localized names and they are added to the dictionary, the articles are automatically updated. The item infobox automatically sets the title for an item's article, so no need to worry about that. - BrazilianNut (talk) 15:58, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Automatically added item descriptions

Hi, about this edit. Are we now supposed to add {{Item description| to all articles? And second where are official translations stored on the Wiki, as right now for example <br> is displayed as normal text in descprition of the Wiki Cap. User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 12:20, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Denied.
The descriptions are stored in the dictionary, in Template:Dictionary/descriptions.
I do not know if we are supposed to insert the localized descriptions into the articles or if it's ok to use that template, however I do not see what would be the problem in using it, considering we already use other templates in infoboxes (such as {{update link}} for release dates and {{item name}} for team-colored styles). I also see very little use for that template outside of other templates, such as the item infobox and backpack item templates.
Cheers. - BrazilianNut (talk) 14:42, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
Alrighty, thanks. User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 19:02, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

Skeleton pages

Hi Nut. Please dont remove {{cl}}, {{update link}}, {{item kind}}, {{item name}}, {{item description}}, and other language templages from skeleton item pages.

They may appear to be useless, but they were added to help translators. If anything is highlighted in red (ie. broken links), please update the dictionary instead.

Thanks! — Tark 15:27, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Tark.
I'll try to remember that. Sorry for the inconvenience. - BrazilianNut (talk) 15:34, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice

First, I appreciate your advice. I read your writing. I am sorry. I didn't know redirect is need to /ko. I confirm your writing and Now I can apply it in translate. But I need to more explanation why I can't use redirect in Korean document. Are there any flaws in that way? Howtoplaytf2happy (talk) 15:05, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

And I can't understand Template:Dictionary/items/itemname Also It isn't using in English writing. What is reason that we have to use {{}}?Howtoplaytf2happy (talk) 15:37, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

There are several reasons why redirects aren't used, such as consistency and the redirect changing target. "pagename/ko" will only be moved if everything is moved and will leave a redirect behind, while a redirect changing target or being turned into a disambiguation will often not be rectified on every page. The curly brackets are used to indicate it's a template, similar to the item infobox or painted variants (it's a pre-written piece of text that's often repeated). It's not used in English articles because the names do not need translating.
GrampaSwood (talk) 15:43, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

{{item name}} automatically translates the item's name to the language the article is in. {{item link}} does that while creating a link to the item's article in the same language. This makes sure official translated names are used, among other reasons; also, {{item link|C.A.P.P.E.R}}, for example, is much more practical than [[C.A.P.P.E.R/ko|선장의 고급진 펄스트론 입자 전자기 광선총]]. You do have, as shown in this example, to use the item's original name in English, though (so no {{item link|선장의 고급진 펄스트론 입자 전자기 광선총}}). - BrazilianNut (talk) 16:22, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

Just a quick appreciation post

I'm relatively new to the Wiki, and I made it here to pretty much translate all things TF2. Prior to this I translated Team Fortress 2 Classic (as swfcapslock) and Pre-Fortress 2 (not credited yet, localization will be implemented in the next update), and I enjoyed every second of contributing to those projects with my Turkish localization file. So after finding out what I can do in this website, I felt like I just found myself a gold mine.

Even though translating things are so fun, I often mess things up, whether that be me missing out on things to translate under the large, spooky jumbles of formatting text, or ruining something while trying to do something with that same text. I have never used any kind of wikia page, and I have pretty much zero prior experience with those. But it's all thanks to people like you that make it a fun, learning experience where I can also get to meet new people in return. Thank you for the stuff you helped pointing out to me thus far, and I hope to see you again. Swiffie (talk) 21:40, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
