:: Did a bit of digging around Adrian Finol, to see if I could come up with anything useful. Most interesting is that I did find a mention of him on an early TF2 blog post (for the Sam & Max promotion) here. There are also some other useful archived links from Valve's website that mention him:

::This seems to point towards him playing a small role on the TF Team somewhat early in his career at Valve, before moving on to become a Senior Developer on Dota 2. Again, it's difficult to define due to Valve's relaxed "teams" of developers being able to move to whichever project they choose. Personally, I think this probably confirms it's not necessary for him to have his own article - his mentions on the developer commentary articles, and any other 'list of Valve employee' pages should be sufficient. ::: While I hate to close this, there is just the one mention of Adrian Finol on the wiki.  His NPP page hasn't been deleted, but I it is in my user space here, Finol, if anyone provides further cases for TF2 NPP.

Has Eric Smith been overlooked?
 +
 +
+ Eric Smith seems to have an advanced staff position (that of, as some say, customer liaison).
 +
 +
+ Eric Smith has multiple mentions on the wiki (which is my primary criteria for NPP, probably)
 +
 +
Please, write some background for Eric Smith here since I don't know the guy.

:Although he doesn't have an official title of "customer liaison", he has been widely-known to be the person to contact for TF2-related stuff (i.e. changes to a cosmetic item you made, changes to medals associated with your event, general questions and requests). Also something to note: He is the person who is on most of the update e-mail notifications (Valve has a list you can sign up to, it gives you an e-mail every time there is an update). He did an interview with Digipen in 2019 where some more info about him is, mainly about how the first thing he worked on was a TFC update. Eric is also featured on the Hydro developer commentary and has written some blog posts. Otherwise, he is mentioned on the Wiki mainly under the references section with e-mails.<br><font color="DB9C1F">GrampaSwood</font> (<font color="DB9C1F">talk</font>) 16:20, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

:: + I hold that this sort of mention in citations is at least as notable as general in-text mentions; maybe more so given the responsibility of Eric's role that is the whole RS basis for these citations.
 +
:: + Not having read it, I would think that the Digipen 2019 should be linked in Eric Smith, based on GrampaSwood's description.
 +
:: + Even if we don't have RS for Eric's Job Title (writ large), we could still apply a generic role (writ small) based on consensus of the activities we can see him doing. It seems to me that even if he is just "staff" he is clearly senior staff, at least.
 +
:: I must say, though, my support should be tempered by those who do their wiki work more closely to where Eric is cited. If those wiki staff are approaching me for my independent opinion, I have given it.

:::: Some junior editor reading this could take a brave stab at drafting a page for Eric in their sandbox. I would say the case is promising. And I sense Eric will look all the more notable in draft ... I think, once you list the points of notability on the draft, it will add up to notability comparable to the artists.

:: They could, if someone built a little consensus and a list of who would go into the list of contractors. I wouldn't know off the top of my head whether BR are contractors, community developers, or both, or neither.  Maybe, it could be a category for just one really notable contractor we just have to mention.

"Valve employees" to "Valve executive staff"

"Valve employees" at once seemed natural, but problematic. It seems, much of the "Category:Media artists, colorists, writers, etc" are Valve employees, and if any aren't it is not really any conflict with the category.

Using Valve employee in the manner collides with the employee user pages cat.

I propose moving Gabe Newell and Robin Walker to "Category:Valve executive staff

Other Valve employees?

Are there any other particularly important Valve employees mentioned and linked within the wiki (exclusive of User pages) that should be added? M I K A D O 282 ❄❄❄❄❄❄ ❄❄ ❄❄ (talk) (Help Wanted!) 17:50, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Right. Thanks for the Robin link to TF2 Blog. I am unready about the rest. As for me, only a couple of the give the slightest tingle of maybe I've heard of them. (Here is where you post, "C'mon Mika! They's the guy that such and such!")
To your Blog Posters list, add Dave Riller, Corey Peters and others on that column? At least, I am certain I have heard of them -- Works: Level designers of Gorge and Viaduct, respectively???
(This could be a discussion, so, note to all editors, please outdent additional candidates.)
I figured more of the focus of the employee scan was to look for ones with either links already or the prose that mentions them also describes their notability.
Maybe doing a lot of blog posts is notable in of itself, but only 1? (Oh, no, not another notability greyscale).
Valve probably doesn't let nobodies post, so we should be able to cite why they are notable besides the blog posts. Maybe that was your point, the list of Blog Posters represent people who have importance in Valve wrt TF2; I suggest that it is more than just stating that they are blog posters.
For a start, there is the Power Play list.
Several of the Blog Posters also participated in the developer commentaries, another whole can of worms. (Mr. Newell is listed because he produced the game, not because he did commentaries.)
Even if they are in the list, we shouldn't include them if we can't confidently state their job title or accomplishments (level designer of [map name here]). You might know those details already, I'm not critical here, I couldn't do pages for these guy myself.
I think good idea would be to list their titles and works for review.
Maybe we need a list of known employees in a worksheet table for people to submit notability, or was that your idea already.
M I K A D O 282 ❄❄❄❄❄❄ ❄❄ ❄❄ (talk) (Help Wanted!) 02:02, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Well, I believe it would be applicable to note the current members of the TF Team, but due to the dynamics of Valve's worker policy it might prove a difficult task - instead, we should note long-term developers within said team, those that have contributed over the course of development. I have two new candidates for that: John Schoenick and Tony Paloma.
Now, as far as I'm concerned, those two have been a part of the TF Team for a long time, though I'm unsure whether Tony is still consistently part of it. The thing is though, that their role is a bit uncertain besides being the primary developers/programmers of the game. Still, I believe it is enough for notability. Wok: A Rubric: Are they mentioned in the wiki for their contribution/works? If not, is the wiki incomplete for their absence? M I K A D O 282 ❄❄❄❄❄❄ ❄❄ ❄❄ (talk) (Help Wanted!) 03:00, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Not entirely. They are both mentioned as being part of the nine Steam accounts with the ability to use Power Play. The people on that list are assumed to be (or have been) among the frequent/main developers of the game, given their status. There is also a few references to Tony's old posts from SPUF and in the older patch notes, but that's about it. As for social networks, they are both titled as software engineers on their LinkedIn profiles, so probably not enough coverage for notability when it comes down to it. Yeah, same sort of problem with John Cook, Mr. Caughley may have been an important developer of the original games, but maybe not as important or involved later in the game as Walker? "Maybe would be better to do a list of developers of Team fortress series", but not as an NP page, rather, within one of the pages about Team Fortress series development.

Steam names and other aliases

Thinking about including the EmNudge alias of Kipperman got me to thinking about whether, when and how to include aliases. For Makani, it seemed pretty natural; the wiki has used that name for some time, and she uses it herself on her art accounts. And maybe Robin and EmNudge are stable enough to list, and Driller, too. Delete Adrian Finol?

In the original joint topic, no discussion of Adrian Finol specifically was made, pro or con. Opportunity is given here to specifically close this nomination for deletion.

At the risk of prejudicing the discussion, the issue for me is lack of citation in the present page for notability with respect to TF2. The statement is "a main developer", rather than "the main developer", and the provided link provides nothing to support either claim. "Main developer" is not particular concrete.

M I K A D O 282 ❄❄❄❄❄❄ ❄❄ ❄❄ (talk) (Help Wanted!) 22:52, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

The page is now "deleted" (conjecturally moved to my user space) for non-response to requests. Additionally the page was committed to main space before review. This nomination can move forward as soon as notable works are clearly identified. Finol's only mention on the wiki is as developer commentary; consensus is that alone is insufficient. Did a bit of digging around Adrian Finol, to see if I could come up with anything useful. Most interesting is that I did find a mention of him on an early TF2 blog post (for the Sam & Max promotion) here. There are also some other useful archived links from Valve's website that mention him:
This seems to point towards him playing a small role on the TF Team somewhat early in his career at Valve, before moving on to become a Senior Developer on Dota 2. Epsilonal (talk) 15:04, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
While I hate to close this, there is just the one mention of Adrian Finol on the wiki. His NPP page hasn't been deleted, but I it is in my user space here, User:Mikado282/Sandbox/Adrian Finol, if anyone provides further cases for TF2 NPP.

name language switching in Notable_Person_Nav template

All names in is in English currently. In all translated zh-hans notable person pages, the person's name in the page title and the content was being translated to zh-hans. It's been a thing in Chinese Wikipedia too. I wonder if we should implement language switching to person name in the , so it looks more consistent.

Drew Wolf?

Are we doing former employees as well? If not, I would still suggest Drew be added given he was responsible for the female class concept art. And as of the source code leak from April 2020 we now know that female classes were an idea Valve was considering, and as of a smaller private leak, we also know which female soldier from his concepts was picked and modelled. The source dev repo apparently has all the other female classes (minus Pyro as there was never any female Pyro concept art) and some in the community right now know exactly which concepts for which class were picked but it's quite secretive so I don't know if we'll ever find out. Basically, since we already have info on the wiki detailing the female classes and the staging build convar. Why not also have a page for Drew? Thefixer2021 (talk) 17:09, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Unsure:
We have two things:
 • An unused switch in the leaked software
 • An internal pitch, which appears to (perhaps derivatively) extend other's work at the time, but no evidence of anything like the serious further efforts that went into the present classes after that stage. It may be speculation that this pitch was noteworthy, even given that it was a team pitch.
Thin.
Has anyone with Valve said anything about Drew Wolf besides "getting an M&Ms stuck up his nose"? Googling drew wolf tf2 garnered huge number of hits but they are all single-source spawned speculations from Wolf's upload of his images and one paragraph of commentary. Obviously, he had something important to do at Valve other than this, but what was it? Maybe it was non-game media?
Oooooh! Guys! Look what this Boooooomer found that you didn't!
Drew Wolf did important event and update page Illustrations for TF2!
I have been meaning to get that running away from the ghost image onto my profile.
This plus the name drops in Valve postings is notable,

Finer point: While perhaps unique Trivia, Drew's participation in an unsuccessfull group that pitched female characters for TF2 is by far not the most notable actual contribution he made to the game. Unfortunately, however, reporting of the failed pitch is the only mention of him in the wiki. I would not support NP unless verified Files of Wolf's influential TF2 art has been updated with linked attribution to him.

Community voice actors

Just an opening post to acknowledge discussion of status of Community voice actors. With Community developers, the premise is that a single link to their Steam profile is sufficient. Should this be no different in the case Community developers that provide voice responses?

Calvin Kipperman would be an associated, but maybe different discussion.

Personally I think it's fine to list them on the voice actors page, but they do not need their own page.
GrampaSwood (talk) 19:46, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
I would argue in favor of adding them as a footnote at the bottom of the Voice actors page, like I did in an edit that was reverted. It's out of the way and unintrusive, but still serves to inform and provide information that has been stated on other pages, but in a relevant, additional page where people might go to seek the information. Dogman15 (talk) 12:03, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Apparently more discussion is needed on this. So... I've said my piece. Please, discuss away. Anyone at all. More consensus. Dogman15 (talk) 04:09, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Important people on social media

I was thinking recently, that what if we add additional site where these people are found asides from wikipedia.

For example, the voice actor of the Medic, Rober A. Downes, can be found on twitter as many of you probably know. I think it would be a good idea to add his twitter account in his wiki article.

What do you guys think? Yossef | Talk | Contributions 22:00, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

OOH, I think there was some opoposition to this, but OTOH, I think at least one or two NPs have Twitters given on their page. Go, look and count. See what other's feel. At least only add the social contact if they use it to communicate with the TF2 Community.

I think they should be listed under a separate "Contractors" section, maybe add something like Bad Robot (worked on PASS Time) as well since they're not Valve but have created stuff for TF2.
GrampaSwood (talk) 16:20, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
They could, if someone built a little consensus and a list of who would go into the list of contractors. I wouldn't know off the top of my head whether BR are contractors, community developers, or both, or neither. Maybe, it could be a category for just one really notable contractor we just have to mention.
I guess for me it is a question of whether the list of contractors is notable enough to base its own subcategory.
