Tables

The Team Captain hat has two tables underneath. The Hat template and the Replay Update table. Should the Soldier, Medic, and Heavy templates be shown? Painted Vintage Merryweather 7E7E7E.pngFyahweather 07:39, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
That may be overkill, but I'd have to see it first. Leaderboard class soldier.pngJust a Gigolo - (talk) 08:46, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

About it being on the Medic

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but this is kind of an iffy thing to add to trivia. On Medic it looks like a Nazi officer's Peaked cap. Yes the original intention was clearly for it to be M. Bison's cap, but there have been many community made peaked caps for medic with this in mind, with it's color changes for Medic this seems especially significant. But like I said, it's a bit iffy. CidTheNinja 11:43, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Well usually items refer to one thing specifically if any reference, so having a second reference would be really pushing it. RED Überneedle.png - Lexar - talk 11:47, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
The Medic wasn't a Nazi, Valve has been over this. Leaderboard class soldier.pngJust a Gigolo - (talk) 11:50, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
About Valve "being over this" could you give some citation on that? And what about the Mountain cap, a hat worn by the Wehrmacht and SS during WWII? And even if he wasn't a nazi so what? He also wasn't a plague doctor. CidTheNinja 11:56, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
both your points are valid, yes valve did say he wasn't a former nazi and yes the main point about him not being such and such BUT at the moment the cap already has one major reference as seen in the trivia section. Adding something about it being a nazi cap would be cutting it thin as it already has a major reference. In the end, its not really worth adding when you think about it.RED Überneedle.png - Lexar - talk 12:00, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

As the creator of the hat I will say the following: The Medic isn't a Nazi and this wasn't meant to be a nazi hat. If I really wanted this to be a nazi hat I would've actually made it resemble one [1], made it black, made the emblem a skull and add SS pins all over it, but I didn't. It's just an officer hat signifying the importance of the Medic as the driving power in the team, nothing more, nothing less. Daimao 16:56, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

It seems I've unintentionally made I a lot of people mad about this, simply pointing out what I know more than half of the people who see this hat on Medic are going to be thinking. As of now it's turned into a discussion of whether or not Medic is a nazi. If this is what the discussion is going to be about forget it. Oh, and I never did get any citation on Valve's official statement. Though Daimao, now I'm a bit curious since I just read your statement, didn't you already make a Schirmmütze for Medic? Crafting this hat

Now this hat's not an all-class hat, but it's not a one-class hat either. Has anyone been able to confirm if this hat can be crafted with the Class-specific Hat blueprint? --Onyyx 12:23, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

There is a chance to obtain this hat when using a Soldier token, a Heavy token, or a Medic token. I have a hat trading friend who confirmed it. Painted Vintage Merryweather 7E7E7E.pngFyahweather 02:51, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Different model

Where would I note in the article that the soldier's version has a modified shade that covers his eyes? Guybrush20X6 16:27, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

You don't. Problem, practical, solved. maggosh 16:31, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I never noticed that his shade is modified, but it doesn't really need mentioned. Leaderboard class soldier.pngJust a Gigolo - (talk) 16:40, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Quote

I wouldn't really want to change it without any discussion, seeing as it is a good quote, but does anyone else agree that this quote would be absolutely perfect for this page?

Media:Heavy_cheers01.wav

Maybe it would say, "Heavy upon obtain this hat." or "Heavy upon witnessing his opponent's defeat"? CidTheNinja 23:26, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

YES! YES! Leaderboard class soldier.pngJust a Gigolo - (talk) 23:29, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm fine with it the way that it is, especially with the wonderful reason behind the quote too. (Spoilers: I'm a Street Fighter fan boy) Fate Soul Blake 00:29, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Feldgrau trivia

Alright. So I added this bit to the summery and trivia about this hat, when worn on the Medic, is colored a shade of feldgrau. These edits were originally removed by Shine, and he didn't give a reason. I went to his userpage and asked, waited 12 hours, and someone else agreed that it "seemed legit". I went ahead and reverted them. Later on, someone else added a line about the Heavy. And a bit later, a user named maggosh went ahead and removed them again. What gives? I won't revert them again, but I'd appreciate some reason from Shine and maggosh as to why they insist on removing this perfectly accurate and, in my opinion, interesting trivia.

In case anyone if interested, the trivia line was

  • When worn on the Medic, the hat is colored a feldgrau tone. The color feldgrau was made popular with the German armed forces from as early as 1918 to 1945.

And the summery was written as

  • The Team Captain differs in appearance based on the class equipping it; the Soldier's is bright red or blue with a gold insignia, and slightly longer bill. The Medic's has a feldgrau tone, with a silver insignia. The Heavy's is solely colored brown, with a bronze or copper insignia.

SilverHammer 23:45, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Dunno, seems fine to me. Maybe try to catch them on IRC and ask them. Building icon Metal.png Mar 04:26, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
I think it's because there's no direct reference to it matching the color of the hat. Wikipedia defines feldgrau as a type of green. Upgrade 13:09, 9 February 2012 (PST)

red and blu variants for heavy

We need red and blu variants for the heavy.THE3STOOGES 17:32, 28 May 2011 (UTC) Only found one variant [3]

The Medic's Version

Isnt that the movie version of Bison's hat? [Look] Echou 14:41, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Um, Pilk

Afaik, the Heavy's isn't team-colored. -Shine 17:12, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I know, but I had no idea about it without reading the text. That section of the infobox is pretty much for comparison, and you can still compare things that are identical. -- Pilk (talk) 17:14, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
I guess it's not that important to show, especially since hiding that Heavy section of the infobox is so easy now. 8D -- Pilk (talk) 17:15, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
See, if we had images in the infobox of hats lacking team colors, this wouldn't be an issue. Balladofwindfishes 17:37, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Some sorta glitch I noticed

While playing using directx8, I noticed a spy disguised as a heavy wearing the team captain uses the Soldiers team captain instead of the heavys. I have no idea if this is the case when disguised as a a medic, nor do I know if it happens outside of directx8 mode. Can anyone test this and possibly post it in the article if its proves true? Mewizkuit 11:49, 3 July 2011 (PDT)

How can you be sure it looked like a Soldier's? The differences between that and the Heavy's arent that abnormally notable. If anything, it could have been colored to resemble the Soldier's? Freakie 12:21, 3 July 2011 (PDT)
I'm quite sure it was the Soldiers. Not only was it the color of the Soldiers, it was also placed incorrectly on the Heavy Spys head. Mewizkuit 22:01, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
It is the Soldier's Team Captain, I play in DirectX9 and it still has the positioning bug on the Heavy's Head. I think valve should fix this. Winterpwner 12:05, August 26 2011 (EST)

Missing Heavy Version

For the sake of completeness, shouldn't there be a Heavy variant underneath the Medic's the and the Soldier's? Upgrade 13:13, 9 February 2012 (PST)

i may be wrong, but i think the heavy and medic's team captain's are the same color. TubbyMonster 19:19, 12 May 2012 (PDT)

The Heavy's is slightly darker than the Medic's, and the badge is bronze instead of silver. I think the Heavy's variant should be added to the infobox. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 03:01, 13 May 2012 (PDT)

The Insignias

On the page it shows the heavy's insignia being silver like the medic's,but in-game it is brown. --Riancoady 05:51, 18 July 2012 (PDT)

Peak vs. Visor

I changed "peak" to "visor" in the second paragraph because that's what we say in American English and we all know the Soldier don't truck with British English.

M. Bison's name

In case some of you don't know, Bison is known as Vega in Japanese versions of Street Fighter. This must be included. - Pootis-Man (talk) 12:11, 28 September 2014 (PDT)

"Street Fighter" Inspiration?

While this cosmetic is an obvious homage to the M. Bison character in Street Fighter, does anyone have something from the creator of the item stating that it was directly inspired by said character? If someone could provide a quote or a link to such, that would be most helpful. TizzoHeavy (talk) 11:09, 31 March 2017 (PDT)
