The Ball-Kicking Boots are a promotional cosmetic item for the Scout. They are a pair of team-colored football (soccer) socks and cleats.
When equipped, the Scout's footstep noise is changed to resemble cleats.
With the Ball-Kicking Boots equipped, a team-colored football adorned with all nine class emblems can spawn with the player. This ball can be knocked around in a similar fashion to the Birthday Beach Ball.
This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-purchased Football Manager 2012 on Steam before October 21, 2011.
Football
Footballs are props that can spawn on maps when players equip with the Ball-Kicking Boots. One team-colored football appears in a team's Spawn the first time in a round that any team member equips with the Ball-Kicking Boots. At most, one RED football and one BLU football can be on a map at one time (Footballs can also appear for the duration of "Waiting for Players").
Once spawned, a football remains on the map for the entire remainder of the round, including Humiliation. This means that to put a ball on the map, a player only has to spawn as Scout just long enough to spawn the ball, which is immediate when the Ball-Kicking Boots are equipped. The player can then switch to any class or change to the other side without affecting the football. However, footballs can be lost to play for the rest of the round if knocked into normally inaccessible locations, such as Pitfalls, including from Spawns, such as the back walls of the BLU Spawns of Upward, Mossrock, Mountain Lab, and Monster Bash.
Like the Birthday Beach Ball, footballs can be knocked around, anywhere around the map, by most attacks by any player that can get in range. Footballs can be strongly pushed by Sandman balls, Explosions and Compression Blasts. Other projectiles, melee attacks, bullets, and pellets push the footballs less strongly. Some attacks, like Short Circuit primary fire and Flying Guillotine alt-fire, are very weak. Various weapons have no effect, including crossbow bolts, arrows, syringes, and Pyro's flares.
When a football contacts a Payload Cart, it is knocked away, sometimes with great speed.
