The Medic to his feathered friend

Archimedes is a cosmetic item for the Medic. It is the Medic's pet — a white dove as seen in Meet the Medic — who perches on the Medic's right shoulder and wobbles around with his movements. Fitting with its appearance in Meet the Medic, the RED version of Archimedes is splattered with blood from the Heavy's heart, while the BLU version lacks this feature.

The eyes and beak of Archimedes are flexed with the Medic's facial animations, allowing him to mimic the Medic's expressions.

When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.

This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who purchased the plush version from the Valve Store.

Trivia

  • The item description states that Archimedes was stolen from the prime minister's wedding. It's unknown which prime minister, as Germany has a Chancellor.
  • The item description also states that Archimedes "[has] been burrowing into the chests of unwitting patients ever since". This references an early scene in the Meet the Medic video, in which the Medic is doing open chest surgery on the Heavy, and Archimedes pops up from under the Heavy's internal organs.
  • Archimedes is named after the ancient Greek scientist and polymath Archimedes of Syracuse, most known for his contributions to various fields of scholarship.
