Tip of the Hats[1] es un evento de retransmisión anual benéfico organizado por la comunidad competitiva de Team Fortress 2. El objetivo del evento es entretener a la comunidad y recaudar una cantidad de dinero medainte donaciones del comunidad para Camp One Step (conocido anteriormente como One Step Camp), una organización sin ánimo de lucro contra el cáncer infantil. Cada evento tiene fases anuales como partidas en servidores públicos, mapas de saltos, de surf, charlas y realización en Source Filmmaker. A veces hay eventos en mitad del evento como Dota Fortress o partidas 9 contra 9. El evento ha ido creciendo más allá de Team Fortress 2 con el tiempo, llegando a jugar también un papel importante otros videojuegos como Overwatch y Minecraft.

Medallas

Se otorgaron varias medallas durante los eventos a aquellos usuarios que donasen cantidades específicas, mediante objetos o dinero en metálico.

2015

Esta medalla fue otorgada a los que donaron al menos 20 dólares durante el Tip of the Hats 2015.
Fue una contribución a Steam Workshop de truktruk, Jim, Whisker :>, Auzzie, alex, uberchain, seanbud, Ruskeydoo y bunny.

2016

Estas medallas fueron otorgadas a los que donaron al menos 20 dólares durante el Tip of the Hats 2015.
Fueron contribuciones a Steam Workshop de Bapaul y uberchain.

2017

Estas medallas fueron otorgadas a los jugadores que donaron al menos 10, 30 o 100 dólares, respectivamente, durante Tip of the Hats 2017.
Fueron contribuciones a Steam Workshop de seanbud, Lange, Whisker :>, truktruk, alex, Auzzie, sedisocks, ✿ Jasbutts ✿ y uberchain.

2018

Estas medallas fueron otorgadas a los jugadores que donaron al menos 10, 30 o 100 dólares, respectivamente, durante Tip of the Hats 2018.

Cronología

El primer evento, celebrado en abril de 2013, duró 36 horas y recaudó más de 35 000 dólares. Participaron jugadores de todo el mundo en la retransmisión y ayudaron a que fuese el evento más grande de la historia de TF2 hasta el momento, con más de 65 000 participantes.

El segundo evento se celebró en marzo de 2014, duró 36 horas y recaudó más de 108 000 dólares, con más de 580 000 personas. En este se empezaron a jugar los mapas jump_jurf y jump_iT.

El tercer evento se celebró en septiembre de 2015, duró 36 horas y recaudó más de 214 000 dólares.

El cuarto evento se celebró en septiembre de 2016, duró 36 horas en un lapso de 3 días y recaudó más de 183 000 dólares.

El quinto evento se celebró en septiembre de 2017, duró 36 horas en un lapso de 3 días y recaudó más de 156 000 dólares.

El sexto evento se celebró en octubre de 2018, duró 36 horas en un lapso de 3 días y recaudó más de 231 000 dólares.

El séptimo evento se celebró en octubre de 2019, duró 36 horas en un lapso de 3 días y recaudó más de 190 000 dólares.

Subasta de objetos

Debido a que los objetos del juego como tal no sirven para Camp One Step, un número de los objetos donados, desde armas de aspecto raro hasta cosméticos inusuales se vendieron y subastaron entre los jugadores de Team Fortress y participantes del evento.
